It's coming I reckon.

How would a more stringent lock down be down to us? surely the Government can only decide to tighten or relax it?

I be leave total lock down could happen and I would be all for it to be honest but the government and their advisors will decide when/if this will happen.

The government knows the timing has to be right as keeping people locked up to long will cause other mental/suicide issues

Yes tighten everyone down apart from window cleaners. I've always said we're the 5th emergency service anyway  ;D

It's happening already; you just have to read some of the moonhowling posts that are going on or have a look around the next time you're in Tescos with people walking around wearing rubber gloves and facemasks.

I've yet to see one wearing swimming goggles, but it's coming.

Inner London first I reckon. It really isn’t needed where I live. Out walking/running and people are literally scared of coming within a few metres of each other.

I was walking down a 100 yard passageway this  morning and a guy was walking towards me and we would have met half way. He turned around and walked 50 or so yards so he could step aside and not get too close to me.

The long term psychological effects that social distancing is going to have on us will take years to overcome.

That was probably me, I crossed the road about 15 times yesterday to get to my allotment! :)
Saw someone coming down the passageway and did the same.

Whether we think there should be or not, there definitely will be. None of us took this as seriously as we should have around about a month back. Now as much as I believe the Govt/Boris are doing a good job, they should have clamped down much sooner.

Whether it was political umming and arring or they just didn’t have the right information to hand to force a lockdown we will pay for all this for 3 months or more.

Happy days.

Sais the man that only works part time , why are you so desperate to clean a few windows ?? You are always boasting about how much you earn per hour , and not needing much money , you after 27 years self employment will get 80% of your earnings anyway so you dint need to worry

There is nothing new in the letter being sent out , if fact it’s a complete waist of time and money sending it

Nothings changed but it states quite clearly you can travel to and from work so I'll keep that in my van for Mr piglet, letter from the man himself.

Ironically I wonder how many people will
Catch covid-19 as a result. All the extra printing, posting, delivering hundreds of millions of letters.

Quite mad really for a pointless letter.

I can't see the posties happy about all the extra work involved, but cardboard has been tested and covid-19 doesn't last long on it.  They suspect the absorbent properties of cardboard don't let the virus last long on it.  It wouldn't be a wild guess to extrapolate the same results onto paper.

Just wash your hands and you'll be fine.

Didn’t know that! Interesting.

I've read, listened to some various stuff, including the effectiveness of facemasks.

One interesting thing is that Covid-19 doesn't last long in the air, unless you're coughed/sneezed upon close up.  But can last on plastic/some kinds of metal surfaces for a long time.

Hence the need for the 2 metre social distancing (so you're out of coughing/sneezing range) and hand washing.

I can’t see the restrictions being tightened more, I can just see it staying the same for the next 6-8 weeks where u can go shops, go for walk & go to and from work. I may well be wrong, I’m just thinking for peoples mental heath they need to be able to go outside even for a short time.

I think so too.

Extra measures may have minimal effect on the spread of covid-19, but a more dramatic negative effect on the populations overall health and well being (which includes the economy).
