Yes, 4 family members.  1 recovering and the other 3 on the verge of hospitalization! One of whom is only 22 years old!! It isn't looking good at this moment in time!

Just people on the internet, though Wor Lass reckons she had it in early February.  I initially discounted her claims as that of a daft Pontypoolian, but now I'm not so sure.

She did have a dry cough - a bad one - and a cold.  Some weeks later her chest still isn't great.  I put it down to over training syndrome since she did a 3 day ultra marathon, running 184 miles pretty much non-stop and advised her to take it easy on the running.

But I've read and listened to some stuff from respectable sources which have weakened my disbelief in her claim.

For example:

https://metro.co.uk/2020/03/24/coronavirus-may-already-infected-half-uk-population-12451012/

And I listened to some of Dr John Campbell's stuff (on recommendation from David Mark):

Who says there's two strains of Corvid-19.  A dangerous one and a not-so-dangerous one.  He says there's also the possibility that we have both strains in the UK BUT that the not-so-dangerous-one is the prevalent one we have.

He's worth a listen to:

Not me.  I wouldn't dispute such a thing.  Why would I?  So no apology needed.

Were you tested for it?

My Missus has come home from work early today because she's had some symptoms- sore throat, aching, lethargic.
I feel a bit washed out at times and I thought I was starting with a cough last night but it's ok today.
But showing some symptoms is not having coronavirus.

As i said before,  there is a big difference between the two, if you dont know that then you certainly havent got it.

Testing, so should we revisiting this point?   So quite a number have not been tested and why is that?  It would be lovely for them just to nip over to the kaye family and test them, just so some strangers on CIU can be rest assured, pretty please come out and see me!
Are we registered as having had the virus, yes we are.

Now, please ask the others on here whose family / friends are suffering and how many have been tested and if they think they are trumping up a little cold like symptoms.......
Then ,,,,,,,,,well i cant really say what i would like you to go and do, but lets use our imaginations shall we.

That aside, hope all stay safe and ones who feel they have it etc, then I wish you get through it Ok and dont have any complications which could worsen the situation.

Whooa, whooa, Nate; ones keep ones hair on.
Having symptoms doesn't mean that you've had the virus. If you've tested positive you might have had the virus.
And thinking that you've had it doesn't mean that you're in the clear and you can be going round your mother-in-laws and vice versa. That's reckless.
Now I'm doing ones a favour here; and a lot of other people.
You must still follow the guidelines even if you think that you're in the clear.

A cold like symptoms will show itself within 3-4 as being just that, a cold.
A sore throat, again will reveal if its a sore throat or part of something else (non corona related)
If you have the corona virus bad enough (as some have reportedly been tested and really feeling any symptoms of being ill), trust me, you will know its different.
By time your at our ages of 40 and plus some, you are able to tell the difference unless you have gone through life without catching all sorts of ailments. Which if you have, i totally envy you!  Yet the most of us will not have done.  So like I have said before, there is a big difference to loosely thinking that you have some symptoms and assuming you are have something which you havent got.
Lol, however if you have met my wife I can forgive you for thinking that  ;D  she does panic when it comes to the kids health, however when you've raised as many kids as myself, thats the one thing you certainly learn quickly over the years not to do.

Again, how many people have had/got the virus and how many have died in the UK?  So many have survived thankfully and it has not been as severe as some unfortunate souls have and yet many have  reportedly had different experiences with it as well.
The isolation is to protect all the individuals who will succumb to the virus and all of its ailments and by not having a rush on the NHS, then they have a better chance than they would have, if not.

In addition, just to be clear,  No we are not mixing with others and im sure all the individuals who have had and been tested to having the virus are not out there mixing and forming a social group of US and THEM (being ones who are yet to catch it society) 😂😂

If you’ve had it I didn’t think you could transmit the virus 🦠

That’s the theory of herd immunity
If enough people have had the virus and recovered the virus dies

As it becomes to difficult for the virus to find uninfected  hosts

But you maybe meaning that obviously we do not have enough
Testing kits

So really no one in the U.K, truly knows exact figures of infection

Yes it’s obvious to some

But milder cases can go unnoticed

I tell what info i need to tell at any given time, nothing more nothing less.  Yet complete strangers on this forum think they know more than me about my own family and situation, because of tit bit information i share on here.  Even then, you cant get it right and twist it.
According to the science, if you have fought of the virus then you can not catch it again.  (Not talking if it mutates).  However you harp on about being tested when you know full well they don't test everyone!  You come across that if a person says they have had it and came out the other side then it can't possibly be true because they didn't nearly die and have a stint in hospital........
Ooohh nath didnt put his hand up and tell us his family had it b4 so he cant possibly be right.......
Yes but theres this clue and that clue l........lets see, what was the point of me saying my situation??

The rest of you are all 2nd guessing do we work do we not, can we do this or can we not, based on this and based on that we can assume this n that. (To be clear,  im talking about this virus and the situation we all find ourselves in)
You have guess work and from my experience  by the time you get to the destination you had in mind, you are no longer on the same path nor the same destination.
Look how many tunes have changed since this thing broke out, many are singing a different song now.  What tune are you going to play in a other weeks time

My best advice is to be absolutely selfish! Make sure (if your working or not) you dont catch it!  If you do everything in your power to make sure you do not get contaminated then that gives you very little chance of passing in on to anyone else you love or dont know.  Beyond that, its out of your control

Nathan , I think you may have  Histrionic personality disorder  (HPD), it’s a disorder that makes a person  always want sympathy from people. The truth is in your back posts constantly posting about illness’s. I’m not saying your family isn’t ill but do you really need to post it all over the internet? Telling everyone about problematic pregnancies etc ?  It’s not very professional, and some things are better kept between you and your wife.

You can’t have been in self isolation for 14 days because you were posting about working the day before you said it (look at the dates) and this clearly shows you are telling fibs....

Lol
Ive already done a post on my facebook page, mostly because im kinda doing half days or less now that kids are off school, mother in law self isolating due to being quite ill and obviously wife isnt always able to have the kids.
The response as been great, customers texting me saying not to worry and come when I can. Many are saying not to worry as they wont go anywhere else etc etc.   Therefore I dont need to post anything else and I also know that I will loose very little work over this and so Im not worried at all.

My only concern is waiting for my mother in law to pick up and so I can get full days at work and currently phoning suppliers for hypo so i can  get the big paying jobs done in order to fetch large chunks of money in. 👍👍

If I am to believe the advice from 111 telephone NHS, then my wive, kids n inlaw have all had this virus and thankfully they seem to be over the worse of it now. Also pleased nearing the end of 14 days and I seem to be 100 un affected.

My question.  If ones have supposedly had the virus and come through the other end OK.  Can we still run the chance of passing it on if we come into contact again with it or would our immune system start to attack it straight away. Would we still need to follow the protocol for social distancing etc etc or could we simply be carriers of it and still need to be concerned

I am guessing that they must have shown symptoms for you to feel the need to phone the 111 NHS advice line?  If so why haven’t you been self isolating?

Who said I havent been self isolating?   Ive been talking/posting on here quite abit about all the ones in family who are poorly and about the work i havent done since last month and how im hoping bigger jobs at the end of march/early april dont cancel so I can get some money in 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Hence my questions about afterwards, is my family save if they have already had it as they showed all the symptoms. Dont go on about the test because you know they dont test you unless you are high risk or your symptoms worsen.

So when i do go back to work, i will be doing my normal hygiene which is keeping hands clean etc etc anyway but do i still need to be on high alert or can i totally relax knowing that my family is ok. Again obviously aware of possibility of just being a carrier, hence my question

If you’ve been working whilst ill and supposedly self isolating then you played a very dangerous game with peoples lives

Just a thought, what about the usual flu that goes around in the winter? Has that run away scared because of coronavirus? Ones could be catching normal flu and bad colds. If ones aren’t tested then nobody knows for sure what ones had.

My wife was tested last Thursday still waiting for results this was after 1 week in isolation .
Phoned our Dr's because she was still coughing Dr said she probably had it and to isolate for another week and she had to provide a sputum sample for testing still waiting for results.
Going stir crazy constantly sanitising we have 2 children  and I also have BP and Asthma which is usually triggered by any viral infection.
Only 3 years ago on Xmas day night I had Flu and thought I would die because I was unable to breath started to improve on the 4 day after overdosing on Subutimol.

Come on, Dave.
You get flu and colds in Asda and Co-vid in Tesco.

Back to Nate, he can't keep with his own information that he shares with us.
I think I know the score with him but I'll keep it to myself. For now. Someone else sussed him out, early doors.
And what he's doing, or what I think he's doing, is another sign that many people still don't understand what's going on.
What's worse is that Nate seems to be making up his own guidelines which is irresponsible.

In a nutshell.
Kids took ill fri 13th, which initially we took as just a normal cold.  So I continued to work.
My wife then became ill on the 18th and we realised that it wasnt just a cold and i stopped working from the 18th.(afternoon)
Self isolating is from when the first person took ill, so from the 13th till 27th.
So yes, i was working for a couple of days at the beginning as legit thought the kids just had a normal cold which kids get.  However, the 2 m rule was still being used and as usual, i didnt see any customers outside whilst working those days.

So i post I had a text on 22nd march to cancel  haha and what, that shows im working still?   Thats  funny 😂  so i only get texts to cancel when Im physically outside working.  People are not allowed to randomly text me when their situation suddenly changes and let me know to cancel 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

So, I also post a genuine question about when ones come through the other side, what is their situation.  All we hear about on the news is how many have died and about isolation which is perfectly fine.  However hundreds, even thousands have had it and not died.    On a earlier report about the Corona virus it was stated that a person can not catch it again once they have had it.   So yes, a genuine question of whether they can still be a carrier or not?  Yes we all have to abide bybthe self isolation to ensure that contact spreading does not continue. Yet on this basis where two people or more (ie in a family) have survived, they should now be immune unless the virus mutates and as yet we have not been told it has. So technically no harm is dome with these meeting up.  Yet because a question is posed, you take it as prove that we are doing that hahaha.
I would explain my question further but lol I might be accused of seeking more sympathy.......oh darn it,  is that me seeking sympathy by saying im accused of seeking sympathy 😂😂😂  of im sooo confused by all the master minds / sherlock holmes on here.

Surely your self isolation period starts from when you start self isolating and not when your kids got ill. Especially when your wife, I presume she lives with you, got ill on the 18th.
And the 2 metre rule only kicked in from the 23rd and Nate finished on the 18th.

That the difference of thinking and being told what the self isolation rules are.
You self isolate from the first day the person became ill. The person who is ill will isolate for 7 days whilst everyone else is 14 days..

So before you got told or enforced the 2 m rule you was hugging and speaking in close proximity to people was you...........hhhhhmmmmm I wasnt.
But yes we caught it or should i say my family did and if hazard a guess from where,,,,,no surprise it will be from School.   A school which sadly is not known for its high standard of hygiene as the school has many a times sent messages out about hygiene.   So like ive said before, I hope at the end of all of this, people have learnt the importance of hygiene 👍

you can get tested ,  if negative     it does not give you immunity,      you  can get it a few days later.     You would have to test  every week.       .   My mrs has  copd,  she is getting worried now,    more deaths.     wants me to stop going out now, limiting my shopping also.

People a certain age are starting to think  if you end up in hospital  you may not come out.

One of my sons seems to think its just for oldies,  Wrong attitude.    Could pass any virus on .  Lots of vulnerable

Not at the moment only ones in hospital are being tested at this time there is not enough test for ones showing mild symptoms they only test ones when taken to hospital to make sure they arnt putting ones on the covid 19 wards that don’t have it .

Calm down and read the text and not what you think you are reading.  I asked the question,  and for the sake of repeating yet again.......i asked the question if its possible for ones to do so!  I DID NOT SAY I WAS DOING SO    nor DID I SAY I WAS GOING TO!    caps lock, not because im shouting lol, but just so its not misread!

I hope you or your family dont catch any shape or form of the virus but at the same time, when you do, then you let me know.  As you will definately know you have had it (again not saying I want you to catch it and if you did I hope it is not life threatening for anyone).   Then let me test your patience by accusing you of not having it because you have not been officially tested and that you can't self diagnose.  Then also set me patronize you as well by saying your a nice bloke but......

As for everyone else, I give up!   If youbcant juggle your business in such a way to book bigger jobs in and switch things around then so what! As it happens, I have obviously rescheduled some of these jobs for various reasons, yet all connected to the corona virus in one way or another.  So like the rest of the country, my work is assessed on a day by day basis.

We all need to self isolate but people, that does not mean pushing people away. It should be a time of unity and not key board worriors or people just wanting to stir things up for the fun of it.

Didn’t you say one of your customers looked at you funny whilst you were coughing and you laughingly replied you’d had it before all this had started?

Lol, i have a cough, its been long term and it also flares up due to a reflux thing I have as well.  You should see people look, so I try as I do, to put their mind at ease and simply say its a long term cough I have. Their horrid looks go away and they move on with their business as usual.  Yes i follow the guidlines for coughing and more

Doesn’t sound like someone who “knows they had it”, but what do I know, I don’t know if I’ve had it.

I hope you or your family dont catch any shape or form of the virus but at the same time, when you do, then you let me know.  As you will definately know you have had it

This is the problem with over egging things mate (I’m not going to go as far as saying you lie), after a while the story's catch up with you.
There’s enough fake news about scaring people, without half truths scaring people as well.

Anyway, I hope you and yours feel better now you’re over it all.

My Missus has some symptoms, so we're self isolating. Very mild but she's just following the guidelines and we don't know whether she has it or not. I'm just letting you know.

This is the post your referring to.
Hold on to your hats ............my apologies G.  I can see how this is not clear.  For one i used "!"  Instead of the "?"  as this was a question.

My "Yes" was not the answer to the self imposed question, but rather saying that yes, social distancing and preventing of germs spreading would also need to be followed.
So my apologies.

However, as ive been clearly stating since (and in accord with what I thought I wrote) we have not been flaunting the rules to suit, nor would we.

There are alot of people who have come through the other side and credit should be given to these ones as well. Yet we all continue to follow the guidlines because its the simplest rules to follow. If the government start allowing rules for the non infected and rules for the infected, it would be even more confusing to different people. As it stands now, im sure the government ae getting tired of the need to clarify every little detail which they are saying when they have more pressing things to do as people can not follow the basic principles of their messages and want every dot crossing

Anyway, stay safe n well peeps

Out of 6 people I know who have been assumed to have it.
2 have fully recovered
1 has partially recovered
1 is at a mid-point that could still go either way but looks more positive than negative.
2 who have had it the longest and are the oldest- but still only in their late 40s have suffered very bad and are only just seeing a glimmer of hope! Both have avoided hospital but have been "seriously" ill. One of them ate for the first time in a week Yesterday, the other still hasn't eaten solids but is taking fluids. It looks at this point that they will most likely avoid hospital. One of them can barely move due to muscle strain caused by extreme, prolonged coughing, the other took the first shower in a week this morning.

One of my customers unfortunately got it and passed away, his poor daughter cried her eyes out over the phone, very distressing.

My ex works on the covid ward and I worry about her as they haven't got proper ppe yet, they are putting themselves on the line for us. They are really scarred, who could blame them.

My brother works for the police dealing with some really ignorant fools who are abusing the freedom of exercise by travelling to exercise spots and tourist spots. Police have closed tourist car parks and main car parks, even closed some main roads to prevent travel. I support their actions for the good of all of us.

My sister has had her shop closed and has employees to consider, she's worried, like many others.

My mother is fragile and very weak and us a family we collect her shopping and keep in contact every day.

I hate this pandemic, isolating as I don't wish to be a burden for others. itching to get back work but for now waiting patiently.

A friend of mine has it.

I've been calling him every couple of days the last week. Calls are going unanswered today.

I have had a dry scratchy throat for a few days.... although its a bit better today.  if I had  a temperature as well, she wouldn't be able to work for 2 weeks. lots of nurses and doctors are having to isolate.

I know of two that I have socialised with. Not friends as such but friends of a friend in both cases.

The first fellow - poor sod. Died today in Southmead hospital Bristol.
Aged about 75 but diabetic, heart problems, very overweight. Was told he "didn't suffer" in the last four days as he was on a ventilator and was sedated.

Second I knew less well, similar age and issues but not overweight - went into Southmead hospital last Tuesday - don't know whether he was on a ventilator or not but he was discharged into his adult son's care (who also had/has it mildly) and is "recovering at home."
It's a game of three halves!

Not meaning to sound callous, but probably will, flu was known as 'the old man's friend':

The great Canadian physician, Sir William Osler, considered by some as the Father of modern medicine, first called pneumonia "the old man's friend" (indeed it was eventually the cause of his own death). In his great textbook, he wrote: "Pneumonia may well be called the friend of the aged. Taken off by it in an acute, not often painful illness, the old man escapes those 'cold gradations of decay' so distressing to himself and his friends."

The worst part is that they were self isolating, someone in the family kept on going in & out their house with food etc for them like it didn’t matter

Some just don't realise.
I've not seen my Dad for a couple of weeks. I'm going to leave it another week and even then I'll stay in the garden and him in the kitchen. Luckily, my sister is very switched on and cooking and shopping for him and leaving it at the door.
Your Grandad is younger than my Dad, too.
It's dreadful, mate.

Scary times , stay safe guys. We might be able to handle the virus and not even know we’ve passed it on to someone until it’s too late!

I'm also sorry to hear of your lost Shrek.

Daughter works for McMillan Nurses at the hospital and she has the symptoms. Has been very ill for the past 10 days but not hospitalised. Interestingly son in law is self isolating and is fine so far.

My wife's sister's husband works in a carehome and he has all the symptoms. He allegedly caught it from another carer and one of the residents caught it who has subsequently passed away. His wife (sister in law) also works for a different carehome and she has to remain at home.

But until they start testing for antibodies people are not working who could because they are in isolation.

Sorry for all your losses I hope most of us will remain unaffected

No one I know has it but why has Germany with twice the number of cases to U.K. Have half of the deaths we have here
We should be ashamed how we let our NHS down as a society
Round here used to be 4 large hospitals since the 80s there is now 1 also 6 large mental hospitals now there are none
You can add schools playing fields and heaven knows how many buildings the council and gov used to own sold off  even the lamp posts in croydon are rented back to us by a French company
We've been had
The generation that could remember when things were different are dying off

Germany has done mass testing - loads of it - which means their numbers will be skewed towards LOOKING like they have a better outcome than the UK.  90% of the tests Germany carried out were negative btw.

Whereas the UK only tests those who arrive at hospital, so our results are going to skew the other way.

But Germany has now realised that it's wasted loads of testing resources and that a test is only accurate at the moment the person was tested; they could catch the corona an hour after.  So it looks like they're having a re-think and will be going down the UK route of testing only those at hospital and front line staff.

And the deaths?

Younger people caught the disease to begin with, but that's very probably about to change:

Quote
The average age of those infected is lower in Germany than in many other countries. Many of the early patients caught the virus in Austrian and Italian ski resorts and were relatively young and healthy, Professor Kräusslich said.

“It started as an epidemic of skiers,” he said.

As infections have spread, more older people have been hit and the death rate, only 0.2 percent two weeks ago, has risen, too. But the average age of contracting the disease remains relatively low, at 49. In France, it is 62.5 and in Italy 62, according to their latest national reports.

Skiers are generally fitter - younger - types.

Germany has a lot of skiers; I've skied in Bavaria numerous times.

German skiers everywhere.

But it was Germany. ;D
