Hello P@f

My glow plug light was flashing again so called mobile mechanic I use

My fiat doblo multi jet has 58,000 on it nearly and is 4 and half years old

Mechanic said on the phone that it seems unlikely to be glow plugs
He mentioned that on Vauxhall vivario this is a diesel pump problem 🤦‍♂️

He will run diagnostics
He hopefully be over next week

Just wondering how old, mileage your Florino was when you did glow plugs?

Read on Internet if not glow plugs could be electrical fault, loose connection 🤔

Dealership van wise I bought van from

Took Ariel and rubber clutch pedal off another doblo to replace missing bits on mine
Wondering if I had glow plugs swapped about on mine 🤭

Also my van was previously owned by enterprise car van rentals

Wondering if enterprise customer drivers skipped the glow plug warm up procedure

I replaced mine all at 75k but they were playing up from about 70k , 3 of the 4 were totally shot so they could well have been breaking down way before that .
Surely if a diesel pump problem it would not drive at all ?

I wouldn’t put anything past a dealer tbh , when I got mine I didn’t know it had stop/start tech , only when I went to try it out and it didn’t work I found that the stop/start battery was not in the van !

I would very much doubt they would do that. Glowplugs are not that expensive to replace but actually replacing them is where things can go very wrong. If they seize and break off then the repair drama and expense starts.

My son's 2.0hdi van wants a new set. He wanted me to do it last winter and I refused.
If several applications of penetrating oil is applied to the threads a few days in advance then you have more chance of a successful job. So pinching one from a used vehicle on the lot just isn't worth the chance IMHO.

At one time glowplugs took ages to heat up before the light went out to start the engine. Nowdays more is demanded of them. Its instant heat so we can start the engine and get going straight away.  At one time a set of glowplugs cost 'the earth'. Today they aren't expensive thanks to mass production, but this has also brought quality issues.

My Vauxhall combo just had the glow plugs changed 90k along many other things.
