I cleaned an office this afternoon which when i first walked in thought to be clean but they insisted it looked dull,

I would not usualy pre vac a commercial office like this, but due to a lot of dog hair decided too as I had plenty of time and should lead to other jobs

this is the second time in two weeks they have walked in and say isnt it coming up lovely untill i explain im only vac'ing much to there embarisment

but this time you can see why they might think that

It's funny you should say that Steve, the carpet was supprisingly dry when I left 

I may start dry cleaning carpets (vac'ing) for a living some people get away with it, apart from they throw down saw dust first to make it look worse

dont know about vets but cleaned a chammy white 3 piece suite a while back that a pot belly pig lived on, more like zoo

I use a kirby £1200, or £67 from ebay  I wouldent use anything elese, tried the sebo not impressed and as far as the dart you might aswell have one of those push along things like my nan used on her kitchen floor, some people dont like the kirby as they say it's to heavy, never understood that as you lug your over weight portys around

Nice results. I love cleaning carpet where you can see a visable difference. I feel a bit gutted when i have to clean an already (to the naked eye) clean carpet. I know that you are still removing loads of dirt, grit dust mites etc but it sooo easy to impress customers with results like this.

There are a few reasons that you might not have to pre-vac although I do understand what it is that Nick is saying.............but to say that carpets should be pre-vacced no matter what would kill me as I actually get work because I dont. Strange but true. Best, Dave.

It is very very rare i ever pre-vac

The way i see it i have two powerfull vacs sucking from the machine, these give more suction than any vac iv found, and i also use a powerbrush wich is simualer to the beater bars your gonna get on a decent vac.

So whats the point?

At the end of the day once i have finished cleaning the carpet looks and smells good to myself and my customers, and the waste water is always black so i must be doing somthing right.

If i did vac it would take me longer so i would have to charge more, and im sure my customers wouldnt want that

If you don't pre-vac, will you not be turning dry dirt which could be easily extracted into a sludge that may be harder to be extracted?

But if i vac that would mean going over carpet twice once with vac and once extracting.

I just extract once and as i say me and my customers are allways happy with the results, so why make more work?

I think if i used a wand i may feel different but as i say with a powerbrush i think it opens the pile and brings all the embedded sand and grit up anyway.

If i wasnt happy with the results it would be a different matter, but i belive once i have finished cleaning the carpets are clean, i think my machine pulls it all out anyway.

Red Carpet, the pre-vac isnt more work it is part of the cleaning we should all be doing if the job is to

be done properly. There isnt a machine that pulls it all out as you suggested. As to charging more for

the service to vac, then by all means, cos if you arent pre-vaccing then you should be charging less for

 the service anyway. I dont pre-vac as I have said but it doesnt mean the carpet hasnt been done, its

just not me who does it. I understand that you, as most people, dont pre-vac and thats down to you

but you must be aware that the job would be easier for you to do and ultimately a better clean if you

For all you non pre-vaccers!!  have you ever extracted a hall and got black streaks/lines and had to do it again? yes i hear you murmer!!

Pre vac then you will only need to go over the carpet once then, think how many times you have recleaned a traffic aera!!

I think Dave has hit the nail on the head, you get what you pay for in my case you want it pre vac'ed you can pay for the extra time, but most commercial people dont want to pay the extra so id rather turn the presure up a bit and give it a bit more of a slower wand stroke I never get problems with having to go over areas twice, that would be silly as I might as well of pre vac'ed in the first place

I dont know about you guys but 9/10 of the carpets that i clean are vacuumed normally no more than 30 minutes prior to me arriving on site.
