How much water?
« on: December 19, 2017, 02:24:44 pm »
So a particular character on here seems to be fixated on how much water one may use when cleaning windows.

So, this is one house I have cleaned today and forthe purpose of this thread I use a trolley system to clean it. Haha, i know and a video are you privileged  ;D ;D

So this is the house and it gets cleaned every 4 weeks.

This is howmuch water got used.

And I dont think these customers would be happy paying what they are for a poor job.

So howmuch water would you use?

Lately I've noticed I've been using less water, I think it was when I read the thread about tickling the glass rather than scrubbing the hell out of it...I've noticed the more work I've acquired the quicker I've become and the less anal i am when it comes to rinsing..I think I'm working more efficiently now than I was a few months ago.

Today I have cleaned 15 houses, about 6 were 4 bed detached with connys, 3 terraced type cottages and the rest 3 bed semis with no connys. I've used about 300l of water. A few months ago I was almost emptying a 500l tank in a day now I'm not getting close to that. Yesterday seemed about the same.

Mind you that's about 20l a house so I suppose that's fairly average?

This time of year when the air is damp/heavy the windows are far less dirty in general anyway. My water always goes further in the winter months i find.

Weve had discussions about hot water, cold water and warm water. Even on bissel bars and price increases, so why not on how much water is deemed worthy to clean a house.

Lol i appreciate the vids are boring but people havent even seen the main vid which shows you the size of the house and windows in question. This isnt about winter cleaning or summer as I use hot water in both seasons and so usethe same amount regardless. Im curious to know how much water people estimate they would use on a regular maintenance clean if 4 wks on this property as an example

Your videos would be better if they actually did what they said on the tin.

Watched your video and I'm still non the wiser...

You just finished cleaning then emptied a load of water onto floor  :D  :D

I must be real lucky cos i got the same pants video twice  ;D

Was one not supposed to have shown the house that got cleaned ?

Also Nath , either a clear drum as said above or water poured into a measuring jug at the end would have been better  ;D ;D

I have just been pondering on fitting my 250 back in the van in place of the 350 , i have been getting home with the region of 150 L left for some time now , dont quite know why as i dont do  less than before , took out 350 today and did 10.30 until 3.30 and got home with pretty much bang on 175 L

I felt really lazy today, so I just went really slowly with lots of scrubbing and loads of rinsing.
The weather was lovely and I can't be arsed to go Xmas shopping, so I thought I'd just play for time.
I was surprised that I used a shed load more water than I would normally.

The 2 comments above seem to have nailed it for me , the univalve is a great way to save water , and i have always been guilty of over scrubbing and way over rinsing
The 350 will come out and the 250 in over the Crimbo break i think , i do have 2 days a month when i get close to 300 now but i will just fill the backpack and take a 25L drum on those days from now on .

Same as a previous poster I have save some amount water since i fitted uni valve.

How much water to use is a real  feel thing. I find sometimes if you try be too economical especially on rinse you can get small bit of spotting on side rubber seals ....or maybe its just me !
