WCW backpack whining noise; normal or not normal?
« on: November 08, 2017, 11:45:59 am »
I've just bought this backpack from WCW and I'm concerned about the whining noise when the water is shut off and using the flow control. Is this normal?

Anyone else got one of these? Does yours do the same?

Here's a link to a youtube video that shows what happens: https://youtu.be/hNUnJoVlwoY

Some cheap controllers do make a noise, but that seems excessive. Mind you that could be because it’s fitted to what is effectively a sound box. That would amplify any sound it makes.
We have a choice! We can do one or the other, the opposite, both, or neither depending on which way the wind is blowing.

I've just had this email from WCW as a response to the video:

Hello,

Thanks for sending this over; we've asked our technical team to have a look into this for you.

For customers who have used this backpack and previous versions, occasionally there is whining noise but this shouldn't cause damage to the unit if held for a period of 20-30 seconds but may begin to drain the battery if left for longer.

If you would like to continue to use the backpack, we have made a note on your account that you have reported a potential issue should any future problems arise.

At least I'm covered if it goes wrong at some time.
