Invoicing Calendar month or 4 week?
« on: June 10, 2006, 11:17:14 am »
I'm just wondering which is easier/better/accepted out of invoicing per calendar month or four-weekly.

What do you guys n gals think?

Per calender month as it is easier for both you and your debtor to maintain accounts. But, everyone has their own preferences and ways of doing things so you are bound to get several responces.

yeah, I think I prefer calender monthly.

You'd invoice for x amount of hours rather than x amount of days, am I right?

I don't think I've explained that one right........I think it's common sense......forget that question, lol

Every 4 weeks keeps the invoices the same, and you get 13 payments per year......however, it still works out the same at the end of the year. I do prefer every 4 weeks, but the main clients i have prefer each month, so thats what i do.

I invoice to the last Friday in every month - so some months the invoices are for four weeks work and for others it is for 5 weeks.  The invoice goes out at the beginning of the month for that months work, for instance I invoiced on 1st June for work done 27th May to 30th June = 5wks, this way you get paid on completion.  My clients have never had a problem with this.
