Best Van
« on: June 08, 2017, 10:50:21 pm »
I know this comes up a lot but I would like to know which make of van is  the most popular for a two man unit and which is best for a one man unit.. I am thinking about buying a newer van. Which van carries the best payload. I have a 650ltr tank and also carry a power washer as well as the usual bits and pieces.

MK7 transit 350 mwb low roof with the 2.2 fwd 6 speed box , rare vans to get hold of but there the better engine and best on fuel and are massive weight carriers we have two of them ,

im looking at the new vivaros. Seem to be up to it , built in luton and shares lots of parts with other vans so they should be handy picked up if needed. Local place to me doing them over 5 years 0% interest.

best van for a one man band IMO is a transit connect L2 240.not too big,not too small and it can handle a 500L tank(936kg payload)and you can fit in your poles without cutting into the bulkhead.3 seats in the front too(albeit the middle one is small!) if you go for the trend or even better the limited.(air con, heated drivers seat, parking sensors etc).the limited version looks the business too with colour coded bumpers and wing mirrors etc.i love mine.great cabin for eating your lunch, cup holders, storage spaces etc.the roof is lower than the older lwb connects so its easier to get the ladders off too when needed :).
price higher/work harder!

Watch the deals very carefully. 0% interest means they are taking the cost of loaning the money to you from the discount off the van's RRP.  Look at each deal in its entirety from beginning to end and what you commitments are. Also watch for final payments at the end of the finance deal/contract. To keep monthly payments low/affordable/enticing  they put a large final payment at the end which maybe higher than the value of the van.

This will leave you in trouble.

Its usually better to get a bank loan yourself and negotiate the price for the best deal. Play one dealer up against another.

Appreciate the feed back,i  haven't had the chance to go in and look at what exactly they are offering, just the limited amount shown on their website. So will see what they are offering and speak it over with the accountant within a week or so hopefully !

I like the look of the new Toyota proace, anyone got one?

Look for the guys with Citroen Dispatches, Peugeot Experts and Fiat Scudos in the same age group as they are the same van.

I haven't looked, but the Proace I believe uses the 2.0 hdi engine which is one of the best variants IMHO.

I would always recommend that, as we are living in turbulent times with regard to diesel, that anyone considering a new van look very carefully at the residual value if there is any finance deal being part of the purchase.

I seem to get the feeling that older diesels from 2008 seem to have dropped in value a little in the last few months. So this trend could push onto newer vans depending on what future 'environmental' taxation does.

If this is a continuation of a previous thread regarding 2 employees you have still to get driving licences, then insurance is also a big issue, especially with a youngster and a new van. Premiums are going to be sky high.

I remember years ago we sold a new Citroen C15 to a couple of youngsters who started up a painting and decorating business.
The van cost £4995.00 + VAT + delivery  new in those days and the cheapest insurance I could get for them was £2500 a year. They took that as the cheapest they could get was £1000 more.

I know the majority of vans are based on a platform but it's the new version I'm interested in. The older 2008 diesels should be in the grave!

The same engines JSMC. I've just looked and Toyota is offering both the 1.6 and 2.0 liter variants as are the others.

Transporter T6 T32 LWB.

Have an 850ltr 2 man system. Plenty of room for pressure washer and equipment. Also gutter vac, all equipment and generator.

Pay a bit more yes but great van and will always hold its value.

I like what Dazmond did and put up prices to cover the cost. Also you could spend a little time canvasssing to recoup the cost of finance payments.
