Do what you want nathan.

I doubt you can smell a pint of beer on the breath, do you ever get close enough to a customer to breathe in their face? i dont think i ever have. Does that rule out eating garlic or onions? seriously daft thing to say.

as long as you arent over the limit who cares, you seem happy so thats all that matters. Enjoy your beer.
[/quote

How is it a daft thing to say ? would you want a tradesman turning up to do work on your property smelling of drink ?
You might not want to be in the company of somebody stinking of garlic but at least your not going to worry about that person
wreaking your property.
To the customer booze breath is booze breath and doesn't indicate how many drinks you've had, as said it not a professional image even if the chances are slim that you will get close enough for a customer to smell it.

Its a daft thing to say because nathan is a  sole trader enjoying a pint and a bag of crisps in the sun.
hes not getting peed up or damaging anyones property.

I dont know what type of custy you have but i might only speak to 2-3 a day and then its just answering the door and saying hello, its unlikely i would be having a deep converstation with anyone and breathing in their face.

who cares what others do or dont do?  the reason a lot are self employed in because we can do as we please and make our pown business decisions, dont need some smart arses or goody two shoes on a forum trying to tell people how to live their life.

Do what you want to do.

I had a BLT and a vanilla slice today is that allowed?

For the record i never have and i dont think i ever would have a pint of beer in the day time, but not because i could care less what a customer might say, simply because its not something that appeals to me.

Are you sure ? your getting on like somebody who's been on the sauce, will ask again would you not be concerned if a tradesman
turned up to do work on your property smelling of drink ?
I m not telling anybody how they should live their lives or run their business, I'm saying it doesn't give out a professional image
to turn up to do a job smelling of drink.

You keep banging on about how professional you are. Turning up to customers....sorry clients houses smelling of alcohol isn't professional IMO. To liken this to smelling of coffee is ludicrous!

Do me a favour;
Go have an ale, just the one and do a test for me. Go speak to people without telling them that you have had a drink. Give it a good half hour after last mouth full and go talk to them as normal and see how many of them know you have had a pint.
Let me know your results
I would be over the drink drive limit so I think I will give your test a miss.
Plenty of time for drinking at the weekend for me ;)

Yes i would be a little concerned if a tradesman turned up smelling of drink

However, important points

1. one drink wont make you smell of booze
2. if it did no one would get close enough to know
3. we are not really tradesmen in that respect, hardly the same as a ped up gas installer

Wow the guy merely posts the wonders and freedoms we can have as window cleaners, he has 1x bottle of beer and the forums nitpickers lose their minds.... Hey more power to him.... Life is about enjoying the moments of bliss when we can.

Get a grip guys....So he had a beer, way bigger things to lose your s&^T about.

We as window cleaners do lead a very lonely work day and for alot of us I imagine having contact with other w/c is a nice thing in that we can share info, experiences but that does also include things we may not agree with... but then again if we all look at our working days...would you want the world to see some of the things you do ? lets alone post it in good faith but to have it ripped to pieces?

Dave.

Well done Nathan , your the man , drinking on a school night - post more pictures of you drinking please .

Then in turn , Nathan thinks we are impressed with his lunchtime delights and does it more and more..... until .... he's an alky

Yep im a complete stranger to you guys and vice versa. There are plenty of numpties on here, plenty of self loving going on, plenty of "my opinion is right regardless" individuals and plenty of ones willing to help and offer advice. Along with plenty of critical, pessimistic characters as well...........woe be tired if you miss key a word 😂
But, it would certainly be boring if we were all alike and thats what keeps forums like this active. However

Personnally i will be defensive when my character is brought into question. So some will decide on a hot day its wrong to stop and have a quiet moment and enjoy a cool bottle of beer, thats perfectly fine. Whats not fine is calling my character into question and start being muppets by then assuming im going straight back to work and not doing paper work or whatever. Or that the one bottle will turn into more and my alky breath scare customers when im handling dangerous equipment and they worry for my well being and question my otherwise professional persona.

For some who openly admit theyve had issues with drink and now remain T total. Absolutely well done to you guys as that takes commitment and will power to turn that addiction around. But for you all, i dont have that problem. One beer will not turn into 2 or more. It most certainly wont leave me smelling of alcohol as some on here would have you believe, unless im smoking a spliff at the same time and go spill a perfectly good bottle of beer down my work clothes!!

Yes i talk about a professional image........do you guys get a little touchy when i do. Do you feel its a personal attack at you or something..........if you do, why do you??  I would question your own mind as to why it offends you!!

As regards posting a picture about some of my lunch breaks if some of you boring grumps out there dont enjoy them or want to join in on those threads to lighten the mood of day then dont enter that thread. For the posting a pic of what we all look like also offends you for whatever reasons i cant think of without being sarcastic against you, then dont get involved......it is quite simple. But then dont pimp yourself out when it comes to a competition to win a new pole and you go posting pictures of yourself to win a couple of hundred pound pole 😂😂😂😂😂 (can u see how back to front some of your thinking can be)

But dont worry, i dont need peoples approval or praise to make me feel better or worse about myself.  I thought its all in a bit of fun

Now i have had first hand experience of this , and was not overly impressed by it , but would like to point out that i see absolutely nothing wrong with what Nathan has for lunch , i have done it myself and will if i want to again in the future , i am the boss !

What happened was........... I was having some windows fitted by Safestyle , i bought one .....i got one free , what i actually did was pay double for the first one ....and get nothing free (sucker)

Anyway , there i was waiting for the shiny transit to appear and up pulls this knackered old transit with a tiny Safestyle magnet on it , out gets this scruff bag and knocks my door , "sorry im late boss , bit of a mad one last night " in his beery breath .

I had waited long enough for these windows so let him crack on , after seeing him leave a 2 inch gap at the top of one window i decided to get a few pics as he worked his magic , i asked what was going to fill the hole and he held up a 3 inch cloaking strip !

He then fitted my kitchen window with a lump hammer  :o :o :o , this was far easier than grabbing a bolster and chipping out 1 inch of cement in one corner , he then shook my hand and left .

Needless to say , the following week i had the shiny transit , uniformed sobre fitters and new windows !

Now , the above is unprofessional , one lager with you're lunch is every mans right surely ?

So having a pint of ale equals you smelling of alcohol   ::)roll ::)roll
Wonder how my customers feel after ive been drinking coffee most of the day  ::)roll ???

Its interesting hearing the different views on this. Especially when ive posted about having my lunch at a tobys carvery along with a pint on a section of my round.
So to some to have a meal and a drink is a bad image of a self employed worker. Compared to being parked up and eating a sandwich and a flask of tea by the road side whilst having a cig...

When I get offered a cold can by a custy, I don't say no ;D

I dont think its a waste of time , i find it interesting to see peoples differing views on a pint and when is the right time to have it , ok its during work hours but does it really matter , Nathan is only going to clean the customers windows not perform brain surgery on one of their kids , half of my custies like a drink , i know this cos i can never move the feckin wheelie bins  ;D ;D

I personally just think you shouldn't drink and drive , no matter how little it is , I just don't see the need. Everyone knows alcohol and driving don't go together full stop ✋

End of the day if you are going to post on forums, social media etc then people are going to attack you for having an opinion.

So you post and expect to get ripped apart, thats why a lot dont bother posting at all.
