Should carpet cleaners be allowed?
« on: June 03, 2006, 01:14:30 am »
After hearing on the radio taxi drivers in certain parts of the country aren't allowed to show the England flag on their vehicle because of prevoking trouble; should we as cleaners be subject to the same treatment?

When should we show our following of the national team on our vehicles?

Can of worms now open!!!

Come on England!!!!!!!!!!!

How can displaying your countries flag in your own country be seen as provoking trouble?

Another one for the merry band of mental do gooders that try to dictate what we do in our great little nanny state me thinks, Andy

Nice one Andy,

My thoughts exactly, complete madness!

If anyone tries to to take the flag off my van they'll do it over my dead body!!

Come on the England!!!

I think it would be nice if Irish, Welsh and Scottish cleaners followed in the spirit of the game and our Great British country and displayed the St. Georges cross on their vehicles as well.

Just a thought..............

The world has gone mad.

I'm proudly flying my  St George Cross from my van.

I  do have to keep stopping each time I go under a bridge though as I think my pole is a bit to high.

If they really wanted taxi drivers to stop offending people they could get them to slow their meters down and show them how to use their indicators and mirrors for a start.

I don't see why carpet cleaners shouldn't be allowed to have the St George flying, no one is saying anything about all the plumbers and building trades vans flying the Poland flag.

Perhaps they're just cracking down on taxi drivers! I for one think they're the worst drivers on the road, good on them for cracking down but it should be for bad driving not showing your countries flag before the worlds biggest tournament!

Jason.

They should give red flags to bad and/or foreign drivers to display on their cars/cabs!

LOL, see we've all voted now then.

I'm going to keep my flagpole up on my van after the tournament to show my nationality as I drive around town, on the odd occasion when I see another Brit we'll be able to identify ourselves and flash our lights and wave as we pass.

I see some brainy academic type has worked out how much extra fuel taxi drivers will use by flying a flag. That's nothing, they could save a fortune in fuel by going the quickest route instead of always taking you 3 miles out of your way. Most of them could also save fuel if they lost weight, they spend to long sat in taxi ranks all day reading the Sport and eating doughnuts, if they lost the extra lard i wouldn't have to recycled carbon to save the planet.

I blame the extra emissions from taxi drivers on the extinction of the dinoseurs.

They are already identifiable, the DVLC has made them put a little 'PL' on the side of their registration plates.

There is a good side to showing a 'PL' on  your car though. If you display these letters you can be sure the Algerians won't crash into you as they can't claim against the insurance companies because cars that have these letters are generally not insured.

Perhaps the government could solve the flag problem by putting the st georges cross on the tax discs, that way they know they are being displayed by the minority.

Great idea Andy, perhaps it could be funded by the National Lottery Commision.
