The ongoing discussion of whether to clean or not in the rain.  Personally i run a tight ship, i run a 4 weekly system and rarely ever fall more than half a day behind.  even if it's raining i still work, sometimes if its heavy rain and i'm feeling up to it i just blast through the day.  Would rather get wet and earn money then sit around waiting for the rain to stop not earning money.

Yes you get the odd few old biddies who kick up a fuss, but i find that if you explain why you clean in the rain and that usually it rarely ever affects your ability to clean the windows, most customers are fine with this.

This week, customers have actually been saying to me how impressed they were to see me out in pouring down rain, and it shows i take my business seriously and that i am not a fair weather window cleaner who just shows up when the sun is shining.  I actually got Tips for going out in the rain this week, and yes i am talking money   My customers must feel so sorry for me ha.

That's a new one for me, customers paying more money for me to clean there windows when it's raining

Think i might start doing more work when it's raining!!!

Good for you mate most don't go out when it's raining . I do if I need to . That's new tho tips when it raining can't say I've had that before .

They are paying for pure water cleaning and rain isn't pure.....especially in heavy rain.

As long as the windows dry up ok I can't see the problem  . If they don't I'd go back and re clean them . I wouldn't clean windows if it lashing down....unless you got a cap on you can't see what your doing any way that's when it pointless ..

I avoid heavy rain where possible, if im already behind, going on hol or been on hol etc then i will do it but if no then i wont.

How often is it heavy rain all day though ? very rare maybe half a dozen times a year? if i cant have the odd day off then hmm

I switched over to wfp for a number of reasons (like most) but one of which was being tired of loosing money due to the weather.
Day after i did my first day in rain, a couple of old lasses (tho 2 seperate custies) mentioned how impressed they were with windows even tho i cleaned them in rain.
   Well i thought if old dears were impressed then i have nothing to worry about and not looked back since.

I'm the same, always worked in the rain. However as I get a bit older I'm not so fussed. It's not the rain so much as the wet van seat for a day or two that then mists up all the windows..

yes i just crack on even in heavy rain sometimes(depending on workload schedule).customers get used to it.

ive not always had this attitude though.i lost out on ££££s years ago by not working in bad weather.

Its a miserable way to earn a crust especially when its heavy also very hard on the neck trying to see over the
peaked cap that's keeping the rain from your eyes, needs must but best avoided as soon as you can.

Working in the rain is ideal most of the time for doing addons too.

Come to think about it yes it was one of your customers who said they were impressed!  It was one of my other ones that gave me the tip though

Put up your prices, go WFP, and chill when it's raining.  Or go to the pics, or gym, or for a run; whatever.

Enjoy the time off; most people are chained to their jobs; but being self-employed, we don't have to be.
