immersion heater advice
« on: October 19, 2016, 05:56:13 pm »
Been following some previous threads on heaters. Ive decided as im not overly confident on rewiring or gas works, to go with a 2kw immersion heater. I understand i dont need to change wiring, though someone has mentioned artic flex which i might use. But i wondered if this one here would be any good? I have a 500ltr upright tank and thinking of putting this down near base with a mechanical flange nut (?)
Any advice on this before i order please.

That's nearly a 3KW Nathan so would probably need a 16 amp fuse /wiring etc.

I have a 3kw (properly wired ) in a 500 tank but only sits 2/3 of the way down, so today I've had a 500 flat delivered. I should be able to fit this a couple of inches from the bottom and heat more of the water.
My thinking is having to pay to have the immersion on,  it may as well heat more of the water.
Will take my months to change though!

Thats a long bugger too. You need to work out where you want it and get the tape measure out.

If you've got the 500ltr upright then you should be OK with 14" element.
Try  Heatrod Ltd in Manchester. Great service and will even do a made to measure of you think 14" is not long enough for your requirements. Mine cost £56-57 can't remember exactly now. Good company.
