Bank details on Website?
« on: June 10, 2016, 09:31:02 pm »
Okay, so my new website is almost live, i know the web designers very well, guys done work for me for years now and his company is on the same business park as the office storage i share.

on the "Pay Online" page on the website they have listed  payment terms including pay by bank transfer and included my sort code and account number, is there any risk involved in doing this?  I have seen a few window cleaners website simply say, get in contact to make a bank transfer payment or something like that etc...  Is there any actual danger in putting your bank account no and sort code on your website?  I'm thinking more of the cyber hackers and warriors that troll the internet getting peoples details and scamming them or whatever they do!  Don't want to run the risk of somebody getting access to my bank details if there is any way they can do anything fraudulent with them.

Thoughts guys?  Do you list your bank pay details on your website?

Also, thinking of getting on the GoCardless bandwagon hype, is it easy to incorporate into my website?  Would rather use this than Paypal or anything else from what everybody raves about it.

Ta.

Sort code and account number are on all cheques, should we all stop paying anything by cheque?

I've had my bank details on my website for several years without any problems. As stated before, these bank details are commonly available.  My customers are able to pay me without any difficulties.

Giving someone a cheque and publishing something across the the world are not the same thing.

Ask your bank.

Mine told me in no uncertain terms not to do it.

I have too..

They can only set up direct debits which is easily cancelled...I've never had a problem though.

I did but had 2 direct debits sent through to me by the bank to sign. Both were scams and for hundreds of pounds on each.
Bank says take your details down.
I text people mine and once a payment has been made, normally they're saved by the custard

My bank details are on my invoices - so anyone I've worked for can use them.

no-one else in the world needs to have them - so definitely not on the website

Me same.
The account they pay in to is an internet banking current account. I never make any payments from it. takes me 5 mins at end of each day to record any payments and transfer them to my main account online.

Thanks for comments, i shall be getting it removed swiftly from the website, just as my gut feeling was telling me too.  No need to have it published, when i can give it out to customers if and when they need it!

I came across another window cleaners website a while ago.

There was a photo of someone in an office which had a notice board in the background.  You could see their George business valuation sheet. Their bank account login details and hrmc login details.

So just be careful when you also put up pics
