The O rings they sell that look like mini mouse - what's the technique for nipping them up?

Do you mean o clips ??

I use pinchers ( long handled ones ) and squeeze each lug alternately until it's tight on the pipe

That's the ones, I wasn't sure if you squeezed the ears together or individually.

Thank-you Smudger,
wondered if there was an easier way as it can be very difficult if flush up to the male adapter.

I've been using the smallest hose clips from b&q its a lot easier to get them off using a screw driver when they need replacing.

i cut the hose and connector/o clip off so i have a clean bit of hose for new connector.
price higher/work harder!

Perfect Windows tipped us off a few months ago. Using a pair of water pump pliers (or similar) squeeze the two lugs together and the hose clip will open up.

If tried this a couple of times and reused the o clip.

I use these to put them on and take them off. Pinch up to put on, and I squeeze the lugs really tight and twist till the snap to get them off
