I have 2 slx 25's that are used  6/7 days a week all day that are coming upto 7 years old. All i ever need to replace is the brushes every 3-4 months on them. Both have had the new clamps fitted but that is it, i have never had a snapped lengh or any cracks! Neither show signs of breakage or needing replacement anytime soon! I never clean the poles or replace the end tape etc. They just keep on cleaning and cleaning. I can see them going on for another 7 years. Great poles and great clamps, defo cant complain.

I have a 45 footer that is 51/2 years old still with the old clamps on. Earned me a ton of money in those years !! Super max I think. Good thread.

Best ploy is to keep your slx for 18 months, then sell it on eBay

Nutters usually pay the price of a new pole.
Keeps the costs to almost zero.

I'm on my second SLX since they were released- which at a guess I would say is about 8 Years? The first one didn't actually wear out, I replaced it before it did and I still have it as a spare!! This pole gets used 100% on a daily basis. I also have a Xtreme 47 which only gets used once/twice a month and I have also had this since it was released.
 Can't argue with that, on second pole in Eight years and it's still going strong!!

are you still driving about in that van with over 200,000 miles on the clock as well mick?

my slx is coming 1 year old i clamp the sections on the red bit ive just started finding its spinning on the number 1 section so i now clamp in a few cm down on the black and its fine i recken it will last a wile this one unlike my old pheonix x lol

Yep 267k now and still doesnt miss a beat. Im hoping to get 300k out of her.

Couldn't agree more, run it while ever it's still going well. It's not usually the engine which scraps a vehicle but more everything else around it!!

I have Slx25 from the first batch Alex made and still going strong, it had the metal clamps. Must be 10yrs?

As soon as the brush wears out I buy a new pole complete and flog the old one, so about six or eight months maximum.

New pole, including new brush, delivered, £240.  Sell old pole for typically £180 (It still looks brand new so I get a good price). Cost £60.

New Supreme brush, £43 including shipping.  £17 less.  So for under £34 a year I get a new pole every six or eight months. No spinning, no replacement clamps, perfect working order at all times.

So your prepared to spend £100 just to save £20 ? in business you spend money because you need to spend it to make you money or to make your life easier you don't spend it to keep your tax bill down.
You will lose a lot more on depreciation when buying a vehicle that you will ever save on tax.

With Sean on this. My van is very near its 10th birthday, had it from new and never let me down. Will cost me more to get it through MOT this year but newer vans seem more complicated and problematic anyway.

A way of saving tax is to pay more money in to your pension, especially if you are a higher rate tax payer.

Not worth buying a new motor these days the way things are going i have recently replaced mine with a contract hire truck for me its a win win with a brand new motor every 3 yrs .

14 mouths is the longest we have ever had out of a daily pole befoure we bin them  . which where happy with wouldn't buy anything else

Oldest pole is April this year. I change poles every 6 months-12 months depending on use.
