Do tattoo's put customers off?
« on: November 27, 2015, 09:24:14 pm »
I have a half sleeve tattoo which is covered up pretty much by by polo shirts.

I'd like to make it into a full sleeve but not sure if it would actually put some people off booking with me. I generally go out and quote most of my work in their homes so they get to see me and decide on me I suppose - I get a really good conversion rate - do you think a full sleeve would put some off?

Agree with Radek.
Although i think tattoos on necks etc would definately put people off...
Ive got my kids names on my arm and if anything it starts a conversation.

When i was 13-14 i diy tattooed my wrists and dots on my hand thought it was cool back in 93 lol they look a mess now i have had the dot on my hand covered with a swallow and need to get others covered as they look a mess. I do see peoples eye go straight to the tattoo on my hand but as long as you are nice and professional then don't see a problem.

Hi,

The swallow on hand is construed mainly as a tattoo a former prisoner would have,

Shows that they've done there "bird"

I'd perhaps keep that hand in your pocket Phil!!!

Not sure how much it costs, but have you considered having them removed rather than covering them with more tattoos?

I think Tattoo's are very much more accepted now - even McDonald's have the girl serving with them on their National adverts.

Just worried a full sleeve is going to put some of the old dears off which are one of my best customers!

Out of fashion?

I thought they were never more popular than now?

There are more tattoo shops in our town than ever - surely a sign of demand?

I make my employees cover them up at all times when working.
No matter what you think about it, some older people, and many posher people, still look down their noses at people with tattoos. Remeber you are working in their personal space, and you dont want them to have concerns about who is in their house.
Im starting to feel the same way about the kids they employ as police, who now nearly all have tattoos on display!
I suppose you know if they have tattoos they must be 18... Lol.

lol a lot of shops knocking out rubbish , most are  quite empty , and shutting down . only to be opened again by someone else that knows better a lot like carpet cleaning we sold ours in 2010 just befour the bubble burst

while programs like London ink , and the like were tattooing starts it was great everybody loved them but this as fell away again the fad is over ,

ive had loads of customers telling me there daughters and son have tattoos but they hate them ! its  not as cool as you think don't belive the hype

Hi Guys

How can it help, you are giving yourself another hurdle to jump to get work.

Nobody is going to book you because you have a tattoo but some will not book.

Cheers

Doug
