Websites!
« on: November 21, 2015, 01:43:23 pm »
I'm thinking about adding one to my business but not sure which one to employ to build it for me. I had one a few years ago with Vistaprint but although their charges still seem reasonable I'm undecided!
I've googled window cleaners in my area and the same company comes up every time at number one on page! I get that but his first line says  Voted number 1 window cleaner! Who has voted though?

Talk to Nate - he did ours, and many others here - good price and lots of communication while building it.

Once you have a site you then need good seo, this will be a long campaign and be prepared to spend on things like google ads etc... Again Nate can point you in the right direction

Who voted them number one ? No one ( well maybe his mummy and wife ) - that's just sales blurb mate

How much does it cost for a website? Need to have an idea before committing.

the prices differ madly, i'm getting this for £200 , i looked at doing it myself but it was too complicated

That would still include all seo so you should hit high page 1 of search engines, not just mobile friendly my sites are all responsive and google verified mobile friendly. Some images if you dont have any, pages I'd estimate 1 homepage, 1 contact page, 1 payment page, 1 cookie and privacy page (legal requirement) and a blog for you to use if you want to and help push the seo.
Almost forgot, at 200 I'd include a years hosting on my own fast UK server which is renewable every January at £50 and only other thing you would need to sort yourself is a .co.uk domain name but thats less than a tenner
i 'm getting one so i can shift everyone to go cardless, i dont think i'll get many jobs from it but if i only get £20 of work then its paid for eh

web sites are like window cleaning so many prices, so many doing it, so many cow boys out there , you just have to go with the one you feel the happiest with in your price range

Mat recommended TSO Host for a diy setup, if your willing to spend the time. Only thing that bothers me is there analytics don't work.

Is having a fb page not enough? you can make it interesting by having regular posts and maybe videos as well as likes and shares.

No Facebook is not enough ( well if you only want scraggy domestic one off's ) Facebook will bring in work and sometimes really nice work but not compared to a website, on that subject, how come people on here are reccomending this and that yet none of them will put a link up to see these wonderful website ? - not much of a reccomendation at all really.

I've just started using TSO Host (more of a hobby really) and initially, they seem very good. I didn't know about the analytics but that doesn't really  bother me.

Personally, unless you can do a really good video, I wouldn't be fussed about it.
Also unlimited pages, I think is a bit of a gimmick. You only need 3 or 4 pages (unless you offer loads of services). In fact i've only got one page and it does everything for me.
The Seo is the good bit (and that's probably where the money is) and they don't offer it for £500.
Sounds like they are offering stuff that you really don't need and not offering the bits you do.
Cut a long story short, like everyone says, have a look at Nat's website, I think all his charges are on there.
