As it's currently topical, could anyone advise me (hint hint Dazmond  ) of the best set up for connecting the heater to the hose reel. I'm thinking of using a radiator hose with jubilee clips, but I'm not entirely sure of the best way to secure it to the reel inlet. I was wondering what everybody else on the Dark Side were using.....

Look for the red hot water hose they use in caravans. Radiator hose is ok but mine swelled a lot over time. My set up is different to most. I suck hot water through the heater by using the pump after it. I have braided steel covered hose from heater to pump - same as bathroom fitments. Rarely use the heater unless it's very cold. waste of money rest of the year.

Order a couple of meters of ionics hot black hose,it's what I've used for the last 4-5 years and it's been perfect leak free.

I used standard minibore from Sureclean systems & never had issues - - except it does need double jubilee clips on all fittings as it goes quite soft when hot.

Hi Nat, what connectors do you use for connecting to hose reels?

On the heater side I used 10mm brass "Gas Nozzles" from B&. They are a tight fit - the minibore needed to be dipped in boiling water & forced on & then secured with 2 jubilee clips on the hot side, so you loose the quick disconnect feature, but they never leak or pop off & you can still undo them in 2 mins with a spanner if you need to.

On the hose reel side, my hose reel just had a 90 degree swivel with a brass hosetail on it - again I just pushed the minibore on & secured with 2 jubilee clips. simples!

The minibore from Sureclean is VERY good though (So is their pole hose) - - other brands might not survive the heat so well...

go to you car shop and get some radiator hose they sell it in lengths

black 13mm car radiator hose £5 from local car spares shop.

i have a gardiner heavy duty QR hoselock fitting going into hot outlet(double jubilee clipped)and a brass rectus 26 going into the side of my reel(redashe hi vis reel).no leaks yet!

ive finally sorted my calibration on pump controller so the pump shuts off within 10 seconds after turning off tap at brush end.

Car radiator hose, order it in long lengths from Halfords, will withstand higher temperatures than red hose which will only guarantee 80 degrees safe.
