Best for indoor trad
« on: October 16, 2015, 04:54:36 pm »
What's the best cleaner to use on large indoor glass . I've just picked up a new job . I can wfp all the outside but I have to blade all the interior . I don't do any trad work at all now , hate it , but this jobs too good to miss . I always used fairy liquid but with all these new cleaning detergents just wondered what's the best stuff to shove in the bucket . Cheers barry .

Stardrops in a spray bottle works a treat or you can add to a bucket no soapy suds cuts through dirt and squeegee glides nicely .

Wouldn't use washing up liquid or Fairy as I find it leaves a coating on the glass and tends to smear in hot weather
which I find is the biggest problem when doing interiors.
Maybe it would work better for a full time traditional cleaner with better skill levels but as a wfp'er I need a product that's a little handier to work with.

Cheers Sean . Might as well pop down to b&q  and try some hg window cleaner . One bottle should last me about 5 years with the amount of trad I do . Looks like I will have to scrape the rust off my blade and look for my pockets  ;D

I would also agree that any type wash up liquid or traditional type glass cleaner can leave residues behind on the glass,  we use and promote Bio-Kleen H/D cleaner comes in a 5 liter concentrate and can be diluted 10ml into a 1 liter spray bottle for trad cleaning inside or outside, Bio-Kleen is based on colloidal chemistry and will never leave any residues behind on any surface, 1 x 5 liter concentrate costs £25.00 and will produce 500 no 1 liter spray bottles working out at 5p per 1 liter ready to use spray bottle, just to share there are other suppliers on CIU who also promote H\D cleaners based on colloidal chemistry if it helps.

I would suggest you learn trad properly ;D

You have a point. ;D
I can trad properly but like most guys who came into this game through the wfp route I haven't had much need to
practice my traditional skills, in other words I wouldn't be the quickest which doesn't help when your limited by the amount
of liquid you can put on the glass and how quickly its drying because of the heat inside the property.
But to be honest even if I was up to speed I still wouldn't use Fairy because I don't like the finish it leaves on the glass.

I have tried  professional cleaners like unger or similar but find I always go back to fiary or ecover.
Ecover is slightly better as you don't get as much bubbles and  residue coating.

I would agree with you Sean on the Fairy, walk down our high street any day and you will see the regular shiners with their window cleaning bucket, squeegees, applicators, and bottle of Fairy, walk down the high street at nighttime and with the lights on inside the store windows you can see clearly the residues on the glass, and it really dose not matter which brand of wash up liquid is used as the heat generated from the lighting will show up the residues that dry on the glass.
