X-line brush review
« on: September 21, 2015, 07:22:26 pm »
I ordered two on Friday afternoon , 1 flocked with pencils and 1 mono with fans.
The were delivered on Saturday, I was impressed.
The flocked went onto 22' with aquadapter  and the mono onto a 22' with an aqua tap
I was worried about adding more weight to the end of the poles as I normally use Gardiners extreme brushes.
I have also got a mono and a flocked Gardiners supreme brush, but the flocked lifted a lead on its first use so binned it off. The mono supreme has never been used.
The better scrubbing power of both these brushes gave me the confidence to rinse on the glass so was slightly quicker on each window and can honestly say I never noticed the extra weight
The only negative was one of the fan jets had a poor splay, I will get a replacement sent
Well worth the money and a good addition to my range of scrubbers.
Tony

Agree, the brush is better and the weight difference is minimal (sill brush)

Agreed the fans are pants though (its not just yours) I had to cut a few bristles to help the fans splay but were still not very good

I've put lumark blue fans into the x line now and its bang on

In my opinion, yeah...

Everyones got their own preferences I guess, but i find the Lumarks have a wider spray with less flow/pressure needed

They're also more solid, so when you're brush is dead you can just knock them out and pop them in the new one

Gardiners fans are not very good, not seen the X line ones but don't sound as good as lumark.

I use lumark black from here http://www.spraytips.co.uk/_-Threaded-Flat-Fan-_/product/?pid=108795

And screw them into pneumatic elbows, very light weight and cheaper than buying from wcw etc.. Who supply them with heavier brass bodies/hosetails

I was going to try them year ago, but the lack of not being able to just push them in and go, put me off.
Yes, where do you get elbows from

I don't know how anyone can say after using an extreme brush they never noticed the difference in weight that's crazy, brick on a stick comes to mind I know a couple of window cleaners that still use the old vikan hi lo brush and think there ok. I don't want to keep harping on about hot water but that makes such a difference when choosing a brush, with hot water almost all extreme brushes will do the job on not only regular but fairly dirty cleans they are all I use on windows everyday. The only thing I'll use a heavier brush is a roof clean where the brush is resting on the roof taking the weight,I find these days if I put anything with more weight than an extreme on the pole my elbows start to play up

Sometimes it's new toy syndrome, but let's face it a lot of brushes are fairly close to the same weight now, so 20 to 30 grams at the start of the day, or testing out is nothing, it's after a full day and reaching over conservatories that you  notice, and that's the test, how do you feel after using all day and did you do more or less work with it?

If my elbows ached I'd put the Extreme back on. I never thought I'd use anything but Extremes but bought a few Supremes to check them out and wasn't that impressed. Bought an Xline to try out and I am impressed. I find a heavier brush slows my technique down and makes a more relaxing day - still seem to be earning the same. I chop and change all the time so who knows what my favourite brush will be next year?  ;D

I gotta say this xline brush is one of the best I have used ... My 3 favourites are xline , tecbuk hybrid , gardiners supreme soft hybrid .....  I like the way I can rinse on the glass really well with the xline , the water seems to flow through the bristles so easily and I find it covers a large area of the glass unlike a lot of other brushes ... It looks like it will last for years and doesn't feel too heavy even on my extreme pole .. You can keep worrying about weight but you could stick a toothbrush on the end and then argue that an extreme is like a brick .... These brushes are more than light enough for people who have back problems etc I reckon ....
