Connecting pole to outside tap
« on: September 21, 2015, 09:30:40 am »
Hi all, For sfg cleans , Iv heard it's better to use tap water instead of pure to do these cleans . What kind of connection do I need to connect my rectus 21 fitting to the tap? Or to a normal hose reel?

Cheers Matty , I think that is actually cheaper then gardiners and it's a brass fitting instead of cheap garden centre hozelock 👍

yeah, I clean 45 garage doors twice a year for some flats I clean exactly that way.
Never been a fan though of rectus style fittings tbh and I prefer hoselock style endstops and hostails anyway  :)

If you have minibore on your hose reel then you need a good tap pressure to get a reasonable flow of water through the jets of your brush.

You can never guarantee that an outside tap is working, especially in winter. We have also found that those who have opted to go onto a water meter are the ones who have their outside tap switched off.

We have a separate hose reel with 1/2" garden hose which I use for the odd gutter clear that will be prearranged.

Remember, if you do use the outside tap to do your job, then you need to flush the contaminated water out of your hose on the reel with pure before cleaning windows again.
Success is 1% inspiration, 98% perspiration and 2% attention to detail!

The older I get, the better I was ;)

I have 20m of spare hose with hoselock/rectus 26 connectors specifically  for certain add on jobs (usually very dirty conny roofs)

Outside taps usually have higher pressure so it helps with large roof cleans plus you save your pure.
price higher/work harder!

That's a good idea Mr Dazmond. I've always figured a spare reel of hose in the van is useful for this scenario but that's always bulky and heavy. 20 metres coiled up in the van is cool and as you say saves on water and its production costs.

Best solution is to always carry enough pure in the van so you are not reliant on having to use tap water.
Even better still than just using tap water is to use hot/warm pure water at a good flow rate and chems if required too.

I do use warm pure occasionally, I just pop a few hot water bottles into my tank and it heats the water up nicely- you guys spending money on immersion heaters and gas -LOL - im always popping warm stuff in my tanks, hot water bottles, flasks full of hot water etc  ;D

Putting a hot water bottle in say a 1000 ltr van tank would do jack poope if you ask me?  ;D ;D ;D
Lpg heaters are relatively cheap to run and not only that you can make a hot drink too.
Mind you I would not be drinking one myself as the water has not been boiled properly...Bless him  ::)roll
