How many full tanks of a 650ltr tank should I be getting after changing the resin? At the moment I'm getting only 3 or 4 tanks before it starts rising from 0.00 to 0.02, I am in a hard water area but wondering if it's about time to look at other things like RO membrane etc?

Info required - what is your tds from the mains, if it's over 100 then I'd say you had no choice but to go the ro route

Sorry Darran, I have RO already due to hard water but haven't changed anything apart from resin since a year ago when I set up, one resin change lasted weeks at one point, now it's less than I week.

Details of the ro system ? Initially sounds like a membrane change, what is the tds after ro but before resin ?

you should be getting a lot more than 4 tanks worth before it creeps up!
i get around 10000 liters before it creeps to 1/2 ppm i change when it hits 3 to be safe.
water in is 360ppm then from 4040 ro at 80 psi its now coming out at 10ppm but was at 5ppm for ages which made 20000 litres before changing at a guess.  maybe you need a new membrane??

Its proberly your membranes my membranes has started to produce 55TDS after the membranes and its touch and go to replace as the cost of my membranes is sixty/ seventy quid so resin is coming in at an equal cost to membranes. But it never pays to spend on resin if you membranes are shot. Always know your tds after your membranes, So my rules are if its 50 tds replace as the resin cost more. I have done the math and this is my costing rule.
My water from the tap is 330 tds so my membranes should be not more than 10 % = 33 TDS SO 50 TDS is a no no.
I have three 150 gal membranes in tandem so produce very cost efficiently could be faster but its fine for my needs. Have three membranes  is tandem is better  than one larger as It will produce the least waste at the moment its 40% waist and 60 % product. I know this will create a storm from the 4040 guys but its true. Every membrane in tandem reduces your waist.  but will reduce flow.per litre.Fact.

Its could be recycled and or mixed, from a country India or China as long as you can get a good supply of spent resin from a water works its  not difficult to set up a recycling plant.  I recycle my reason and its as good as new after, if not better than the new stuff. Recycling should not be bad quality if its done right.

If you haven't changed the pre filters in a year then your RO is definitely shot.

I looked into the process of regenerating resin myself and thought fook that it was not worth all the hassle.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqz44sNprkE

All that effort just for a small amount of resin to refill at 10" di canister....Total bonkers springs to mind ;D

Likewise, some pretty nasty chemicals involved in regeneration of resin, that's why interested to see how it's done, and cost to set up and run ?

I didn't change my last pre filters for over a year and the membrane is still going, wont say strong as its over six years old
hence the not worrying about when I change the filters.
I don't think pre filter lifespans are as important as some make out.
