Thanks for offer Stephen but would rather do on a percentage of work done. Have a broken finger so I would go with whoever did the work and put bills in etc.

How much work can you do in a day? Assuming it's well priced? Or let's say they areal semis how many in a day and how many hours for your day rate?

I would be happy with around 70 percent to the person who helps and 30 to me.  Hard to answer depending on how quick u are. Should be able to do 4 houses an hour thereabouts depending on size of house and the days work. Will be cash in hand and paid at the end of the day as I would need to put my usual bills through as normal as most pay online

Then again I don't really want people knowing my prices etc. I've got a broken finger and just need someone to come with me and do the work,I will guide them around. Or they will just have to trust me when I say what percentage has been done. or maybe agree  on how much per house,I really don't know as never been in this horrible situation before. In agony with this finger but still need work covered and to earn something even if it's 30 percent or whatever it is

From the point of view of going out for someone who's needed the help recently, you've got to trust the chap that goes out for you...

If you treated me with the whole 'i dont want you to know my prices as you might go for my work' mentality, i'd turn around and tell you to do one.

Dont ask for the help if you dont want to trust someone, i'm sure people have their own work to be getting on with & they're just trying to help you out
(And if they haven't got the work, then get out knocking those doors)

Thanks for that brutal response there  Don. Like i said i have never been in this situation before and i had an experience quite a few years ago of someone going around and stealing my work so i'm a little apprehensive. Didn't mean to offend anyone by the comments i made but like i said i have never been in this situation before and i have a right to choose not to let people know my prices. Maybe this is where a day or hourly rate would perhaps be better then to keep everyone happy. To be honest it looks as though i will just have to tell my customers i will be back when i'm better, nothing else i can do.

Sorry, it didn't mean to come across brutal!!  ;D

I just mean that if you trust someone to go and clean the houses, then it's a bit harsh if you then dont trust them enough to deal with the customers...

In fairness, i've done it to help a mate out and stressed i didnt want any money (although he's recently started trying to insist on me taking something)

If you're paying someone though, stick to a day rate and then trust the fact they'll do a job for you (if they dont then knock them off)
If you get someone with no work on, then bonus as they should be happy with getting something imo, rather than being sat watching JK hoping the phone will ring...

The point i was trying to make is at some point down the line you'll have to show a bit of trust no matter who you get, otherwise it'll never end well...

Dont you have any windie mates that'll help out?

That is a valid point you made there Don. It wasn't on purpose that i came across not trusting. Just a bad experience can put you on guard a bit and besides i would have to go with them anyway as i would need to knock and explain to the customers for those that were at home and it would be a lot quicker me being with them.

Everyone seems to be busy with there own work which is fair enough as if it was me helping someone out i would have to(and would)put my work first. I just thought on the off chance someone who may have a short week or a bit short on work may be able to do a good day or two so it's a win win for both,i wouldn't want any one doing it as a favour as then i would feel bad if they were giving up doing some of there own work(i wouldn't) but if anyone is interested by all means let me know but i think i will probably start contacting customers to explain the situation. Either that or i attempt to go to work with a broken finger but that's not an option.  Thanks for tips anyway there Don :-)

If you're out for a while then get a letter printed explaining the situation mate
If its only a few weeks, then I wouldn't worry, i'd just try and find someone on a subby basis so you've got a but coming in

Depending on which you do, I'd eitherr post them through your customers doors, or post through their doors if they're not in when you're out with whoever's cleaning

Hope you get someone to help you out

I was enjoying this game of window cleaning tennis  ;D

Just to say don your right on the "money" if you need help, want someone, just get on and pay the day rate

You should know how much you turn a day or for these days so £250 is either acceptable or not

If someone did 350-400 ppunds worth of work in that day then in my circumstances i would gladly pay 250 but what if they barely covered the 250? or maybe not even do as much as 250? Only because what i do doesn't mean someone else would. It depends how quick they are. I would be happy with paying 180-200 pounds based on doing a 300 8 hour day. I'm back in the hospital tomorrow so going to see if i can get it bandaged as best as poss and chance doing the work myself but it's probably a bit silly as i'm struggling to even get dressed with both hands lol.
