Do you give a price for these types of jobs over the phone/email or do you actually go the customers house to give a quote?

I never quote over the phone. I find it best to get face to face and sell it, that's because I'm quite expensive.

If it is near will have a scan, if further away will quote, but tell them is is provisional.

I normally do these jobs within my work area so always inspect before quoting, on the few times where I have quoted
the job without inspecting I have been caught out.
It can be very hard to judge the size of a job from a picture on Google earth.

I remember the last property I priced from Google earth, it was a high too story large modern property but it didn't look
to have any access problems or nothing that looked overly hard to clean.
I still priced it well as it was also a 100 mile round trip so didn't want to get caught out.
What I couldn't see from the photo was that it had a 6ft overhang the whole way around the property all in filthy
upvc that hadn't been cleaned from the day the house was built as nobody would take it on.
WFP did the job ok but it took my about 4 hours longer than I expected and it was back breaking graft.

Id advise to always see the job b4 quoting, even if it the same size as your own and on your street. Did a first clean for a house on my street, didn't charge extra as the front looked ok....went round the back and the frames were disgustingly green....there description of their own house might be slightly different to your description!!
