I just wondered if anyone had any tips for cleaning UPVC doors with dodgy lower seals, (these are the doors without the rain deflectors). Using WFP the water is going to gush downwards and straight inside the house. For one house today I stuffed a cloth into the bottom of the door, hoping the water wouldn't end up inside! I couldn't check afterwards since the customer was out.

Do you have any advice on dealing with this - other than doing the door trad?

hi cookie.......trad with applicator & squeege,  or spray with pure water from bottle & dry with scrim or microfibre

When I clean our windows I do the door, what I have noticed is, water will come in through the bottom unless I push the door handle up which engages the locks to push the door water tight,

So if you closed the door yes it's locked but not sealed

These type of doors have a drain in the bottom of the door frame to stop the water getting inside the property
so you should be alright.
But you should ask the customer if they get any problems with rain water getting inside just to be sure.
Its letter boxes that you need to be careful of if they are on the door as these can leak water into the property.

simple solution is to wash the glass with a damp microfiber then use a second microfiber dry to polish off, will even give better results than using an applicator and squeegee.

Buy some good quality gaffer tape and stick some over the bottom of the door and the frame. For some letter boxes it's a good idea as well.

Just clean the door with wfp and forget about it.
If there is a problem the customer will let you know not to clean the door in the future.
Iv noticed on a very large amount of doors a small amount of water will get through but it's such a small amount most people don't notice or aren't particularly bothered.

Really? you stick gaffer tape to your customers doors? I personally wouldn't do that, Sean's right, the door frames have drainage holes, don't worry about it

just use a damp scrim/microfibre if the door leaks.simple.

I just flick the excess water out of the brush, run the not-so-wet brush over the glass then wipe down the window with a microfibre cloth. This works most of the time. However, if the door is heavily soiled, I will use the good ole applicator and blade.

I don't do that to every door, just to those that the water goes through to the inside. Sometimes it can be blocked drainage holes or a badly fitting or warped door. It solves the problem though.
