Pencil jets or fan jets?
«

Hi all, just came across this video about using fan jets for hydrophobic glass instead of pencil jets as it gives the glass a better rinse? Is this right?
Cheers

That's really interesting! maybe that's why iv had spotting issues, il give it a try anyways, il order larger pencil jets and fan jets, maybe I didn't need any additives in the pure after all!

Personally I prefer fan jets all the time. They work on all types of glass, less pressure hitting the glass and no jetting up issues as in when a pencil jet hits the glass there is water that is pushing upwards. I don`t think it would cause problems very often but the potential is there.

Pencil jets here.
Fanjets over-spray too much in certain situations IMO.
Having said that I turn the flow down by way of a tap on my holster so there is less "bounce" or "upflow" and when I did use fans I could turn them down to low flow and they were like weak pencil jets which was useful say up under sliding sashes or near top rubbers.

That's fine using the bigger jets but the smaller jets do rinse the glass quicker IMO

I use Pencil Jets & Fan Jets, depends on job type, and glass type, they both have their uses.

Its just a matter of which you prefer to use, most of the dirt will be removed by the scrub providing you are working
with the right flow.
Rinsing just removes that small amount of dirt that might be left, a quick zigzag down the glass is all that's needed.
On badly hydrophobic glass I just scrub and rinse twice.

Some interesting stuff there guys. Lots to consider, I have a roof am starting soon, and it's not so straight forward the top piece of glass has a lip on it about 10mm high, when quoting I was told that no water can go over the top of this lip, so I thought no probs, then reading this post am thinking maybe fan jets will be better as there won't be an over flow of water out the top of the brush.
Am thinking of putting 4 jets in all of my brushes

I used to put 4 jets in my brushes. Swapped about all the time. Slow flow, high flow.
Rinsing frame edges, near the brick wall. or pushing bits down the glass.....pencil all day long.
Rinsing glass as near a river as poss...fans on highest flow. work fast. Keep brush on glass. No over spray. Just a good wide amount of water.
Don't think ill ever go back to jets. If you use jets and turn flow down, its like pencil jets anyway
