 I tend to scrub just above the vent with water turned off, just to get the crap off,  then  turn water on & do the rest, i avoid
 at all cost getting water into the vent to stop dirty streaks.

Agreed.

After a few cleans, you don't have to worry about dirty vents, as all the dirt is flushed out. It means you can start to work faster. you can just give a quick wipe over the frame as there is hardly any dirt there.

Some vents will cause you problems some wont and if they give you problems they always will doesn't matter how
many times you clean them.
As with the glass to remove dirt you need to agitate it and then rinse it off which is impossible with most vents.
Another thing to be careful of is if the vent cover is missing on the inside of the frame then you can shoot dirty water into the
property or have dirty water run down and dirty the inside of the glass, if the customer has just cleaned them they
will be far from happy.

Then your back to a ladder which defeats the purpose of WFP, either put a damp microfiber over the brush and rub it
above the vent or I use a Fixi clamp on a Harris pole with a damp microfiber wrapped around a sponge. I give them all a
quick rub above the vents every second clean, this keep the whole frame looking spotless without the risk of leaking vents
or water running between the openers.
Just don't put water above the vent and you wont have any problems.

These things, like so much else can come down to the individual and cleaning techniques - without fail we spray the frames on a first clean with g101 ( or our new stuff a8 ) there after the top is cleaned every time no hassle.

I have seen Everglades times other window cleaners washing with the brush pointing slightly upwards a great way to get water in vents and get crud dribbling down.

Fan jets (for me) clean better and do not penetrate through the vent and sitting square or angled slightly downwards eleminates vent dribble.

Using water fed pole should eliminate any use of ladders

First clean yes. From there on the top frames only if they look dirty. For downstairs if I can reach I wipe the top frame/vent with a slightly damp microfibre and just wfp the glass

i never used to clean the vents but started an never looked bk looks beta when there cleaned an causes less probs alltho some r best left as they r a pain
