If you pay peanuts you get monkeys.

I know lads that work for some of the Nationals and there paid around £7 an hour.
These lads do anything they can to cut corners and knock jobs.
If you pay pour wages and your staff have half a brain how long before they start nicking your work or cutting corners or even set up and go it alone.

Agree with that.

Its a difficult one. It depends how much work gets done, their level of responsibility etc.

I currently pay one guy £90 per day, he's been working for me for 3 months now. I've known him for a long time. Early signs are that he is very thorough, very conscientious, can talk to the customer, wants to work, is 20 minutes early every day. Remembers to do things that I forget. Eventually (quite a while away) he will be on about £110 per day as he will be responsible for a van and another worker. IF it goes ok from now he will be worth paying that as I would expect two of them to do £600 a day minimum in a van. I think a percentage based pay structure could be good.

If I was having someone just work with me as a 'helper' it would be about £70 - £80 per day after they have proved themselves after a while.

I don't like hourly pay.

£120 a day for someone to just literally clean windows?

Mate that's amazing money! They don't have to worry about equipment, diesel/petrol, insurance, customers, all the paper work etc etc,

They just do some windows and get 600 quid a week for doing an easy job? Employ me! I'd take a pay cut for that ease of job, imagine going home not having to do anything at all ever, and still getting 600 a week!

Yeah, but it's not every day. That's what makes the difference.

If you did have someone everyday what would you pay?

I have thought about this.
The figure I came up with is £500 a week.
But it's only theoretical as to do that they'd have to be employed.
And I'm not going down that road.
That'd be made up of a basic pay and a bonus scheme type of incentive too.
Not just £100 a day no matter what happens.

£300 per working day without vat.

Added after. Regardless of the daily rate, I reckon with overheads (van, holidays etc) they have to be returning 3 x daily pay. So if two in a van at £150 a day it should be £450 or so.
