Changes........4 weekly to monthly
« on: December 26, 2014, 06:57:18 pm »
As of January something I'm doing is switching my round from 4/8 weekly to calender monthly.

This past year has been great for me and I've picked up alot more work. My 4 weekly round is now at bursting point.

By switching to calendar month I'm planning that this will give me more time to do the extras like PVC cleans and conservatories.

Had anyone else found they prefer this method?

I'm hoping it will ease the pressure a bit too as it gives me a few more days in the month to complete my work, plus it's a good goal to have.....all work completed per calendar month.....instead of a never ending weekly cycle.
It's probably swings and round abouts, but I feel like I will much prefer this way.

Looking forward to 2015. :)

If i was you doing 4 weekly I'd be changing it to every 4to5 weeks to give you that extra week but also if you want to go back to 4 you can why you ask yourself well if you want to take someone on in the future you will need less work ie if you are earning £500 per week every 4 you only need £2000 of work if you change to every 5 then you need £2500 but if I was you and your fully booked out with work I'd look at all the work ya got and start increasing prices before changing your frequency unless every job you got is a cream job you may have some very well priced work but if your busy any time ya take a new job on put in a high price if you get it happy days at the same time put up one of your poor payers ie that £9.00 job tat shoud be £12.50 then rather than put it up to that put it up to £15.00 happy days you then got a great paying job or if your happy just put it up to the £12.50 as long as your happy with the price you don't have to be gready , I had a few myself that we're £8.50 and £9.00 and I put them all up to £11.50 the customers were ok as they not gone up in a while i could of put up to £14.00or£15.00 but could of lost one i stop the van once and clean all three of these in 30/35 mins for £33.50 instead of £26.50 I'm waffling a bit now but hope you know what I mean   Marc

Good advice Marc. I definitely know what you mean.

Higher prices is something I need to plan for. This year my lowest paying rounds will be getting an increase.

Monthly round is so much easier to maintain

i work 4 weekly in a month, ie week 1 starts the first Monday, so that will be Jan 5th, week 2, Monday 12th, week, 3 Monday 19th and week, 4 Monday 26th. so my days off are at the beginning of the month, In March they will be at the end of the month and i dont work to a fixed date, which some monthly cleaners do, i feel it gives a little more flexibility to move work across the weeks

I think that will be how my customers are too. It's probably much the same to them. The plan is to have a few spare days at the end of the month but knowing me, it won't go to plan. Lol

Imo its de valuing your roand why not sell a bit on? I really wouldn't change them they will also be that bit more dirty. I never understand why some people have a 6 weekly roand I know you don't, but what's the difference in doing 4k every 4 weeks or doing 6k every 6 weeks its still £1000 a week either way so sell 2k and run 4k 4 weekly lol just my opinion

I'm the same as tony. ^^^^^

I'd rather have some more time to myself now or time to catch up on extra jobs that I struggle to squeeze in.

My round is so full that I'm normally running a few days behind as it is, so the customers windows aren't really going to be that much more dirtier. It just gives me a few days breathing space every month.

I don't really like the idea of selling some work on, but if work carries on for me the same in 2015 I will have to either bring on an employee or sell some. I'll cross that bridge this year.

Monthly of course allows me to take on more customers too, so that's a plus. It delays the inevitable expansion.  :)

I'm a bit too OCD to let someone else loose on my work but it's something I'm going to have to overcome. :)

You will go monthly , have a few days slack .
Gain more custies and your be back to square one again - lol

A good Wfp cleaner will always have the STRESSES OFF TOO MUCH WORK .
It's not a bad thing .

It's a negative of using Vision - you get more recommendations
Lol

I get more time to do what I want moving to 5 weekly instead of 4 weekly works well as long as you can say no to more work . Still earn as much as after a short break work harder was always behind now keep up most of the time and do odd Saturday so get more time away in caravan on 5th week

Sorry bud, I don't mean to nit pick but 5 weekly can't earn the same as 4 weekly.

One may be better off to bin the worst paying customers to get to 3 full weeks. Then acquire new work at a better rate and then one could earn the same in the 'new' 4 weeks than the 'old' 5.
But just moving from 4 week to 5 can't earn more. More free time, perhaps, but not more £
