Advise needed when going hot
« on: November 08, 2014, 11:18:10 am »
Hi guys
I'm putting in a 3 kW heater to heat water over night to 60c

What's best pole hose to change to?

What best reel and hose to change to?

Do I need different brushes for hot water ?

Thanks

H

Only advise I can offer is that the first few houses of the day on a frosty morning at 60 degrees c you run a high risk of cracking glass.

It's advised to go no higher than 20 degrees c than the ambient temperature. So,in water you don't want your water any hotter than 25 degrees.

But then if you do that with an immersion heater then by lunch time your waters  going to be freezing again.

If your using water 40 degrees or under then You don't need to change anything atall.

Only went through one cold winter since I converted to wfp. At -4C air temp was the point where I was brushing ice on the panes and packed up round when it was getting dark at 4pm. My mate says that hot water freezes faster than cold (because it has more oxygene bubbles in it) and so a heated system wouldn't be an advantage in that respect. The main thing I wanted to avoid was the pipes and pumps being frozen up in the morning and having to strip all the pipes out of the van every evening. I put a greenhouse parafin heater in the van at night.

It's definitely an old wives tale that hot freezes quicker.

I work in Scotland and I use my water heater very year. Saves me atleast 2 days wher normally I'd be freezing up on the glass.

Quote all the science speel you want but it doesn't happen. It is an old wives tale. Lol

In winter time often I'm working away and the water will freeze like a sheet of ice on a conservatory.

According to the science speel then that's me done for. Hot water will only make things worse? WRONG.

I go back to the van, fire up the boiler, wait for hot water to come through to the brush head, and I can then melt off the ice I previously created, and then continue on with my day.

I've worked up to -6 before with no problems.

Science schmience.

I think the theories are more related to boiling water. Not warm, and possibly very very sub zero temperatures. Who knows.

I've got real life experience with this and trust that any day over Wikipedia.
