Currently in the process of getting a 2nd van on the road, have 5 years no claims bonus on my current van insurance policy.

My current insurer (gladiator) say that my no claims bonus can only be used on 1 policy and have quoted over £120 per month to insure the new van. (Current policy is £50pm)

For those stepping up from 1 to 2 vans, how did you do this without paying ridiculous amounts on the new policy? Do multi van/single policies exist? Who are you using for these?

(We are a Ltd company, 2 directors/staff if that matters?)

Shop around I found that some will offer to credit you with your 5years on the second van .

I had a right pain trying to insure 2nd van due to one of the drivers being 22 with a claim. Once they reach 25 it seems to get better.

What I did in the end was take ncb from private car!

Try Aviva, they've been the cheapest for me for the last two years. Both vans any driver over 25. Drivers under 25 are 3rd party.

Got 6 vans with AXA on a mini fleet policy, works out at around £500 per vehicle.

A lot of companies will 'mirror' from one to the other, Aviva for one.   For this though it may be that more than one driver is required.

We have 5 vehicles and still have to insure seperately, still have to waste half a day each van each renewal.  Never fail to save hundred + each time, sometimes more than halving the renewal figure.  It's like reverse revenue and so always worth ringing around and playing them off against one another.

I've managed to get them to 'mirror' my 5 years no claims so total is £140/month for 2 vans with tank modification declared. Reasonably happy with this and sick of ringing round.

Well, that's b******s for a start.

Tell them if they aren't willing to apply a discount you'll need your confirmed claims experience in order to shop around for a better deal.

Sorry just seen this, I think the price for me wold have been irrelevant because my postcode is rated the worst in the country apparently and I get bent over and screwed every year

No worries. Yes individual prices are irrelevant as there are too many factors which change the price. All sorted now and reasonably happy with the price, cheers.
