Cancelled for being too quick
« on: September 29, 2014, 09:53:01 pm »
Got an email from a customer yesterday saying they wish to cancel my services. I replied Ok that's fine, and asked her if there was a problem on the last clean?  email from her today " there wasn't a problem with the windows, it's just that I was in when you cleaned them and I can't justify paying £7 for 5 minutes work"
This was for a modern 3 bed detached house and prob would have taken me nearer to 10 mins

I had similar. A ground floor flat, only 4 windows 3 panes in each. Our minimum price is £15, so thats what I charged. First time round she was fine and paid. Second time I was half way through and then she came out and said she wants to cancel. Apparently they weren't cleaned very well last time. I said I find that hard to believe as I checked them and we clean 3 more in your block and they are all fine. Then she said she's not paying £15 for me to 'wave that thing around for 5 minutes. My friend has a 3 bedroom house and pays only £8. You're too expensive.' I said have you thought that maybe he's too cheap? I then flounced off and picked up her neighbour. I said £15 8 weekly, he said 'That's a bargain that is, definitely put me on your list, give me your bank details now and you'll be paid before you've cleaned them.' ha :)

Also the silly woman who cancelled is a fortune teller, I thought that she should have known I was coming so should have told me not to bother before I'd done half of her windows :)

I would have replied asking her how long she thought it should have taken you.

Aye, av replied something along they lines. I asked her if she would pay me an hours rate if I was like death heat up and it took me an hour to clean her windows. I also mentioned that the ' real hourly rate '  comes crashing down to a figure she might find more acceptable when you deduct the costs involved in running a legitimate business.

Well done for flouncing Tom-01; the rest of you need to raise your game. It's the perfect opportunity for a good old flounce.

Trad house - massive leaded windows - 2 hours

Converted to wfp

50 mins

Customer cancelled as too quick now.

Even though the results were so much better and we did about 10 extra windows.

Came back to us but wanted trad. It was a good earner so kept it trad.

Built a massive conservatory. Explained i couldn't get to rear tops. She said use the "pole thingy" So i did.

Next time can you do garage doors with the pole thingy? and the all the doors? So i did.

Can you do the glass roof every other time with the pole thingy? So i did.

In the end i convinced her to go with wfp and we did reduce the price. Maybe it was a little high to start off with.

I explained to her this (and she finally got it)

if i turned up and cut your lawn with scissors and the results were good. Would you be happy? Yes

if i turned up and cut your lawn with a lawn mower and the results were good. Would you be happy? Yes

Out of the two which would cost me more money to buy and run?

Not the scissors as Poundland sell em (seriously that was her reply, she was correct but it was the way she said it lol)

Anyways we kept it, good hourly rate and no flouncing :)

I like the lawn mower analogy.

Need to remember that.

I can't think of any time ever that I have ever been cancelled for being too quick. People are more likely to ask me what took me so long.  ;D

<sigh!> A good old Google, then put 2 and 2 together and get 5!!! I do not offer a cleaning service for £9 per hour. I never have done. I would however happily do this if i could get the work and the staff. But like i say i don't !!  ;D

Anyway i only asked you two questions, which one did you get the hump about?

Another one to quote to them is the JCB one. If I were to dig your drive up with a spade, I'd be here all day, if I dug your drive up with a JCB, I'd do it in minutes. Just because I have bought the tools to do my work quicker, doesn't mean I have to be cheaper.
We look at them, they look through them.

Neither  :-*     A was just a wee bit puzzled with the fact that you mocked my pricing, yet you would be happy to offer your  services for £9.00 per hour

The next person who makes a silly Asian remark that I deem racist (and whether it is or not will be my opinion and not up for discussion) will be permanently banned.

Please use the 'report to mod' button to let me know who to ban.

Thank you.

Why? I do it. I knock doors, and keep knocking til I get a !yes please". That's how some of us started Danny. What's so unusual about that? If it worked when I started, why change what works?
