I think you could be right I have just looked at a similar immersion heater on ebay and it says they are only suitable for using for short periods of time as the cable heats up (my ones do this) and are not suitable for using in big tanks of water. Although this info wasn't on the Hong Kong ones I think I will just go back to my webasto heater to be on the safe side Sorry if I have given out bad advice on this and if anyone has burned their house/garage down as a direct result of this duff info just send me the bill

i have ordered 2 of these as it sounds like a good idea .... my extension lead has a thermal cut out anyway so overheating should not be an issue ? how long have you left yours switched on for ks ? you had any issues with overheating ?

Timers aren't designed to be used with something as powerful as an immersion heater.

I used to leave them on for about 9 hours overnight. No I didn't have any issues with overheating

Sorry, no idea James, although someone posted on these heaters a while back saying they were very cheap to run, think they said about £1 per night, don't quote me on that tho.

L5 heater from corwoods or a cheaper one off ebay.(gas regulator comes with the corwoods one)

car radiator hose from hot outlet to reel

13 kg gas bottle

heavy duty connectors(gardiners QR and/or rectus 26 fittings),brass 3/4 scew threads fittings for outlet/inlets on heater.PTFE tape.

DURACELL D cell batteries

heatproof shield(if your fitting heater onto plywood/board on side of van)

connect everything up and fit heater near back doors and switch on.you will have to mess about with the calibration to get pump to shut off when you close your tap on pole and you might have to buy a new hose and reel.connections will also have to be double clipped and tightened up.leave a van door open if your not gonna fit a flue.

in winter it costs me around £50 a month in gas to use hot water every day.

its a luxury and not needed really but it adds a bit of comfort on cold days working.

i keep looking at the stainless heaters on ebay but they all come from hong kong, has anyone bought one cheap enough off ebay from a uk seller?
£94 is the cheapest ive seen one delivered on there!
