Anyone recommend a water heater?
« on: August 13, 2014, 09:39:22 pm »
Hi guys after having to put pants back on today after wearing shorts for weeks I'm starting to think we've had our 2 weeks of summer and as it's going to be my first winter with wfp I'm really concerned about freezing etc so I'm planning now and want to get a water heater fitted and set up way before the frost comes, can anyone recommend a decentish but cheapish mid range heater, seen some cheapo's on eBay but not sure how long they'll last and what sort of flow should I be looking at per min?
Are caravan heaters any use???

You can't go far wrong with these.

A lot of cleaners have them.

You will need a gas bottle and regulator. Recommended is a roof vent.

You will need to ensure the van stays warm (frost free) over winter, but the heater can be drained down every night so freezing water doesn't wreck the innards.

Cheers fella I was just browsing eBay and seen those buy not sure about ordering from Hong Kong!
I seen an ecotemp l5 local to me but that only does 5 ltrs per minute and it's one of those you can hang anywhere without the need for a flu, I want one like you posted that I can run a flu up through roof, side of van etc

Think l5 might be the one to try then, what's a decent price to pay for one as I've seen one second hand but brand new in box and they want offers?

A ton.
Much more and you might as sell buy new and get the guarantee.

The L5 doesn't have the provision for being able to fit a roof vent to get rid of exhaust fumes.

An L5 would have to be mounted on a rear door or very close to it and the doors would always have to be open when using it. Not sure I would like to be working around the back of a property with the rear van doors open on the street in the front of the house.

This is also an insurance issue as anything stolen (including the van) will not be covered by insurance if it was left unlocked. (I have received several reminder letters from my insurance company advising that the van won't be covered by insurance if it was left unlocked and stolen.)

I was thinking maybe hang it on the inside wall of the van and than either put a vent in roof or side of van nearby, I don't fancy hanging it on rear doors with all the opening and shutting banging it will take and possible winds blowing flame out?

i have an L5 from corwoods.£180 including VAT(no 20 min cut off).I leave back door open and mount it on a wooden board near the back doors with a heatproof sheet over the wood.i always leave my van door open when working as i never take the hose reel out of the van.i lock the side door and front doors though.

ive not fitted it in my new van yet.i will come october time though complete with my autumn/winter hose and reel.ill use hot water every day from oct-march then swap back to cold water and my spring/summer hose and reel.

i use 90m of thermobore plus and redashe reel in winter and claber reel and 100m of standard 6mm microbore in summer.
price higher/work harder!
