tank still filling on full flush
« on: August 12, 2014, 05:55:20 pm »
Hi
my new system is awesome, but when i fully flush my 4040 membrane the tank still fills lol. Is this right?
I am using garden hose for water in, but microbore for waste out, would this be an issue?
thanks in advance :)

When you are flushing the membrane there should be a little trickle of water coming through yes

If your making water even a small amount then your not flushing.
To make pure you have to put pressure against the membrane, to flush you need to have turbulence against
the membrane.
Check to see if your valve is opened fully .
Check to make sure the waste is flowing away freely, yes the microbore could be restricting the flow of waste.
If both o.k. then reduce your water pressure slightly and this should sort it.

It's a pure2o 400l system fitted by ionics, think i will change waste outlet to bigger bore hose then and see if that makes a difference. Also will try turning pressure down for flushing. Thanx :)

I did a simple test on mine I just hooked up a garden hose on hose lock connectors to membrane and it worked amazing.
Problem is pressure build up causing the membrane to keep working, it's fitted out now with straight connectors no elbows from membrane to the drain.

Same on the inlet side 4040 I was getting 1.5 litres a min pure and Tds 57 from 444. I wasn't happy and knew I could be better performance from changing hose diameter and less elbows.
Now get 2.5 litres a min Tds 33 from 465

well i have made progress and now only a trickle to tank when on full flush....valve fully open/waste hose flowing freely only on mains pressure so pressure cannot be too high  ???

I get a trickle too when flushing 4040, thought this was normal.
if it bothers you that much put a shut off valve in at the outlet to the pure ? I don't know whether thats a good suggestion or whether it could cause damage though  :-\ anyone know for sure ?

A trickle would be normal but still filling up would not be.

Turn the mains tap off a little when flushing.
