working on your own is a losers game -

now before you get uppity im not talking about money -im talking about mental deterioration .  its well known that loners are very very prone to suicidal thoughts and  crack up

id never work alone now

Sorry to sound rude but what a load of rubbish.

It all depends on the person.

For myself, I prefer working on my own.

Ditto.
I work with someone else maybe once every 3/4 weeks.
That's enough.

Dazmond I feel just like that at the moment I have used every excuse to not go out. I think I need some of your enthusiasm can you bottle some up for me please  :'(

how long have you been window cleaning mate?

ive been there myself.low motivation.once you start skiving off it can become a habit and your earnings suffer making you feel even worse.

1.live a clean lifestyle and eat well

2.get organised and put underpriced work up,drop the messers

3.book the odd job in for first job of the day(ive got a £22 job booked in for 9am)

4.plan a holiday or little break so you have something to look forward to

5.take the odd day off and dont feel guilty about it

6.get into the habit of working in the rain.customers get used to it and pay up as normal after a few years

7.try and work it so you have a few days off at the end of the month before next months onslaught.

I should follow this might earn some money for a change

For myself, when I leave home in the morning I only go out to get one job done and that's the first job. Then when I go on to the next job, that's the then the only other job I'm going to do as I always have a choice whether to carry on or go back home.

Then as the day carries on, the jobs become more and more profitable as at the beginning of the day, you have to cover running cost but at the end of the day, those last few jobs are 100% profit. What a great incentive to get just one more job done.

Also, I see it as all I'm doing is waving my arms around in the air but with a long stick with a brush stuck on the end of it, how hard is that? Apart from that, what else would I be doing apart from sitting in doors thinking I should be out working?

I'd rather have the satisfaction of having worked than the 'beat myself up' thing while sitting indoors thinking about working.

For me, this is why I have set days rounds.
I don't like to come home until that sheet if paper can be updated on the computer.
They're realistic days. But just getting to the end if the sheet is a little incentive in its own.

the truth is you have to be self motivated when you run your own business.if you cant get motivated to go out and work and earn a decent living then id seriously look at the reasons why.

price higher/work harder!

same here darren.all my work for next week is there to look at in diary view in george.once a month i spend a good hour scheduling all my jobs into days for the following months work.i stick to it most of the time.re jigging the odd job or odd days depending on bank holidays,2 monthly jobs etc.

no worksheets for me as i load 3 days work at a time onto my PDA so i can sometimes do another couple of jobs from the next days work if i feel like it.i then just bluetooth hotsync it straight to my laptop in the evening.takes less than a min to update.

I think my problem is I'm not organised enough and not self motivated enough

I'm old school, Daz.
I like paper worksheets.
But yeah, similar story to you. Except it takes about 5 minutes to print the following weeks work on Sunday night. Then do Mondays texts at the same time.
