in previous years iv had a splurge of leafletting in Springtime then  stopped

  but this year  i realized  i cant just do that because itll go stale -a business needs fresh work  for when somebody dies/moves away  or just better quality work to replace dross .  im sure theres a need to keep marketing year round ,to keep the business moving along .  but i find it a drag doing the salesman thing

  i was jus thinking about  Coca cola , they keep advertising altho everybody already knows about them  

i havnt worked it out but im guessing i need about  8  new jobs a week ,just to stand still,on whats already a full round  to cover natural wasteage .  on the street we probably gain 2 or 3 just by passing trade

i know the only jobs we lose are by death , moving and nutters who wont take their meds  . ID think that accounts for 5 a week .
   iv 3 workers plus yours truly all on the squeegee so theres a lot of work getting churned thru  now.   
      it just hit me that i now need to keep a rolling programme of finding new work at a SLOW but steady pace .

a canvasser wouldnt do that.           maybe i should employ a girl to do this marketing or an old goat stuck at home who lives off facebook, im looking for ideas those of you who market year round

leafleting, telecanvassing, door canvassing - the telecanvassing is nice cause it is happening in the background - we like to mix it up a bit but we market all year round, we have 2 or 3 good leafleters so we have a steady flow going out most weeks - which keeps a good steady flow.

You will have to use all the methods then everybody uses. Or pay your guys bonus for getting work.

That seems like a high loss rate, even for 4 full time workers.

Even without any hands on advertising, I've always found the natural growth outdoes the loss by a long way.

Are you in quite a saturated area for Window cleaners?

the big difference for you compared to me is your size (big boy )...you have three full time employees i have one part time so the natural lose of customers we all experience as a bigger impact on you, you may loose three times more than me, thats why you need 8 new customers a month or week to stand still so yes you need to generate more new customers them me but surely this is now the time to implement a strategy / infrastructure to make it part of your daily business needs / goals.
If you dont like doing it yourself then employ someone say paul dale the canvasser or a 10 month of the year campaign of leaflet drops.
I think this is just the next natural phase of growth for your business........IMO

Also get flyers printer specifically aimed at neighbours of existing customers - every house you clean drop 5 or 6 flyers in immediate neighbours houses,.. you'd be surprised how much work this can generate.

Can you not utilise your existing workforce ?

300 leaflets per man dropped at end of day would be 1200 a week inc you which should give you about 6 ish new customers a week plus you walk ups gives you what you need.

Pay em and extra hour a day and split all 1st clean money 3 ways

I used to do loads of council stuff.
Well paid. All cash.
Loads of people, over the years, have asked me about starting up and I always say 'hit council houses'.
2 bed semi's for a fiver, 3 front windows, 3 at the back. Couple of doors. Can be cracked off in literally a couple of minutes. Get a whole street of 'em and the hourly rate can be cracking.
To my knowledge, no-one has taken me up on my advice though.
They all canvass estates like mine.
Driving down the price so hard it's probably not much more than that fiver for a 3 bed detached.
A fiver is throwaway. Council estates, a lot of the residents are on benefits. Live week to week after collecting their benefits in cash. (Not digging here, just how it is (certainly my way))

A fiver these days will barely buy you a 99 and a magnum. G

I hear Gerry Adams is innocent. Then again so was Max Clfford until just under a week ago.

What I loose n deaths, move always and idiots I will always replace with new work from word of mouth or passing trade, if I didn't advertise I would still grow very slowly and my staff of two will always be in work.
It may be time for u to come off the tools and dedicate your time to growing the business and not doing the hard labor
If your time was fully on marketing you would be getting a shed load of new work
