Afternoon fellas. 
A lay flat tank seems a lot safer to me but i'm concerned about not being able to use a fair amount of the water when it gets near the bottom.
What can you tell me?  Which type of tank is it better to get and why?
P.s my main reason for not being keen on an upright is in terms of weight distribution and if i have a crash

I have used both and both will be safe if bolted down correctly, upright seems to get less airlocks but both style of tanks I have used will get right down to the bottom

I had a 500 lay flat and now changed to a 800 upright , can't say I notice any difference in how the van handles the load, I prefer upright as takes up less room.

when using a flat tank and the water level is low you can bump a front wheel up on the kerb which flows the water diagonal to the outlet. no problem really.

As above, but my outlet is n/s front, so if i am getting low i put the o/s rear wheel up on a kerb. Hardly ever need to though!

Brilliant. Thanks for the replies chaps. Think I'll go flat.  No scientists but I'd be paranoid about an upright tank smashing into the front of the van.
Plus with a lay flat I can put the bikes on top of it on the weekend

I had a 400 flat in my doblo and now a 650 flat in the hyundai.

In both cases the reels are mounted on top of it and the side reel pole goes across it when stowed and you can bung other stuff up there more easily too.
