cleaning the pole hose after most jobs has become standard practice plus once a month i take all sections apart on my main pole and give them a good flush inside and out and a light spray with PTFE.every other month i spray the sections with clear lacquer too.

its an expensive pole i want it to last me 2 or 3 years if possible! ;)
price higher/work harder!

Never unless its gone through a pile of poop that some dog owner couldn't be assed to scoop up from the pavement

I don't clean my pole hose, though sometimes it's pretty dirty/gritty and I shudder at the thought of the inside of the pole though it's only 4 weeks young.

With the reel hose I don't reel it in after every house - this did my head in during my first day of wfp.  I now make big loops of it in my hands then place it on top of the reel in the van - I find I'm using pretty much the same amount of hose for each house so why keep reeling it in and out all the time when you can just pick the loops up and away you go.  End of the day every Friday it gets wound back in properly via a cloth to clean it.  At the start it looped just fine but I now seem to get figure of 8s sometimes (or even plums/potato shapes!) instead of nice circles, odd.

I do loop my pole hose in a similar manner as I've recently attached a gutter to the ceiling to put the pole in, then hang the looped pole hose off the brush/neck - it probably is good practice to wipe down the pole hose but as a noob I'm likely wasting far too much time over cleaning as it is without then rubbing down all the hose with towels.

What I need to do is remember to attach the pole hose to the reel hose BEFORE I turn the pump on, to save me getting sprayed.  What I haven't yet worked out is how to not get soaked when disconnecting the reel hose connector from the van port!
