Shifting of frequency?
« on: February 09, 2014, 11:55:35 am »
Does anyone else feel that over the next 10 years there will be a shift towards longer cleaning frequencies?

I say this because when picking up new customers, (I offer 4 or 8 weekly) I have found that in general it is the younger generation opting for a longer frequency, I'm not saying this is a problem, especially when they are given a higher price. Just wondered if most people found this to be the case?

I myself am 22 and I don't believe many people my of my generation would opt for a 4 weekly clean for the most part, I'm sure plenty will but I would say the majority I can see shifting towards a longer frequency. For those that offer 4 & 8 or 6 & 12 or any other frequency have you noticed any shift in your years window cleaning?

As mentioned I'm not worried by this I am just curious to see what other people think.

Bucket and cloth 2 weeks

Trad 4 weeks

WFP 8 weeks

As tech improves so does the frequency.

But yes I agree with you. Offering 8 weeks seems
To pick up more work you maybe normally wouldn't get.

I can't remember a monthly customer we picked up. All been 8 weeks. But we are picking up work from a competitor who is 8 weeks and they are rubbish. Missing windows the lot. The last house we was £6 more and still got it.

But back to OP. Economy. The system. 8 weeks will take over eventually.

I am glad we set our rounds to between 5 and 6 weeks. Customers
Love it.

+1  I started in 1980, had just left school and was canvassing work for every 2 or 4 weeks. Not a problem then, thats the way it was.

Double wooden ladders with point, single A wooden ladder, aluminum bucket and leather or if you were lucky scrim!

A bonus was being offered hot water by the customer.

Now the frequency is getting longer in my opinion.

Personally think its a good thing.

anybody who is fussy   6 weeks is the max they will tolerate .   i offer 4 or 6  .

if you offer longer intervals such as 8 or heaven forbid 12 you will use a lot of energy ,these Will slow you down for days after  -Especially if you do these early on in the week .

6 weekly. Take it or leave it. IMO, if 10 quid is an issue, then who wants custies like that?

7 weekly - part of my selling process involves "Got that many customers I only do 7 cleans a year - more economical than monthly cleans but just before they get too grubby I'm back to sparkle 'em".

Works for me!!

But I am with Cozy on this - take or leave it

I think frequency also depends on WHERE you live.
We clean the majority at 4 weeks, some at 2 weeks and even have weekly cleans. All domestic and wfp.

Same here in South West of Ireland.

I have customers with frequencies ranging from 1,2,4,6,8 and 12 weeks to annually. 99% domestic, 1% commercial.

I try and get everyone on monthly.
Vast majority go for it.
I've not noticed a shift to less regular.

when i started back in 1993 loads of domestic customers were 2 weekly.only a few monthly here and there.

now i dont clean any customers 2 weekly and havent for over 10 years now.lots of monthies mainly.

also a fair few  2 monthly bigger domestics and commercial.some 6 weekly here and there.

use of pure water instead of detergent keeps windows cleaner longer coupled with always cleaning the frames, most customers have upvc windows and charging more for a clean all seem to lend itself to longer cleaning frequencies.

monthly customers are my main bread and butter and in actual fact some work is quite dirty after a month due to lots of trees around, windy weather etc.

its amazing how some of my customers think i clean their windows every week or fortnightly even though its 4/5 weeks between cleans! ::)roll ;D
price higher/work harder!

I have to admit Daz, alot of my custies think we clean monthly, even tough they're 6 weekly. It's all good though, means we can bump a week sooner if it fits. More money at the end of the year.

We do monthly, Bi Monthly and Quarterly.

By far the Quarterly cleans on a day by day basis are the highest profit jobs.

Example..

monthly clean £40

Bi-Monthly £48

Quarterly £60

So when i have a day of quarterly jobs to do, im looking at some prettey insane numbers for the day. So if i had the choice id do all my customers quartely cos for the same time spent im making alot more cash
