How much would you quote?
« on: February 04, 2014, 10:52:03 pm »
Got a call from a new potential custy today and she said it was a end terraced house with 8 windows. The first question I always ask is the frequency... whether it's a one off or monthly etc. She said quarterly which to be honest doesn't excite me as it's the 4 weekly work I prefer(or 8 weekly).... Quoted £15.00 for every 3 months... I tried to explain the less the frequency the more it tends to go up. I said 2 monthly £12-13 and monthly a tenner. She basically laughed at me and said 15 quid was ridiculously expensive....

What would u charge? I actually thought that was quite a reasonable quote...... plus while I'm on the subject.... lost another custy the other day as she agreed 8 weekly and then said text me before u come and I will let u know each time if I want them cleaned... I basically said'we don't work like this' and if you want the service on a adhoc basis then we will have to charge more... She cancelled. It's so annoying.. I only charged 15 quid for a detached house every 8 weeks and all the farting about climbing over gates. I hate those jobs.

Anybody else got any customers like this? :-)

If £10 is your 4 weekly price I would say 2 monthly should be £15 and 3 monthly £20
You were more then fair

That's what I thought... Least I know I'm not overcharging. Some people expect you to clean them for next to nothing.

Fair price for the 1st custie...

Try this with the 2nd one - "Would you prefer to have a call out service rather than a regular reliable w c??"

At this point the answer is always "yes"

"Ahhh ok then, you'll need the AA / RAC they do call outs, I don't. Thank you for the past work". Then bin 'em.

£7 is my price for that type of house.

Quarterly clean would have been no more than £10.

Yes I know. I'm too cheap. It's all relative. :)

Or, when the answer is 'yes' they would prefer a call-out service.... try this......

'' OK, that's no problem, we have a few customers who prefer this option.....
Our 'Call-Out Fee' is £XXX...plus our 'Window Clean' of £XXX....so the total would be £XXX ''.

Just another option, if they don't like...they don't like  :-\.... who knows  ;).

£15 sounds thereabouts for that sort of frequency.  I would probably pitch the price as one of those I didn't want anyhow.  This is because I would be unlikely to gain more work in that area due to the houses beingf terraced (and probably no rear access).

once had a customer (ex customer) want to go from monthly £8 to a 3 monthly for the same price ... she couldnt or wouldnt grasp that at £32 a year it wasnt worth my while cleaning them. Was in process of working and selling round to new buyer so just struck her off the round valuation and still gave details to new windie ... dont know if he kept her on or not ?
