Alright guys happy new year to all

I fitted my first wfp system to my van over hols but as topic title I find it a little awkward filling vessels. I take the lid off which is connected to the filterband take it out while filling vessel. However it seems hard to get lid screwed back down as filter has to push  through the resin.

If this the way its supposed to be its nothing major but am I missing something?

Put some water on the vessel before you push the riser tube and head in

Rubbish.  Any water will do.  Flush as per normal.

Fill resin up to required level in DI up to the neck of vessel , Then put most of the water needed in vessel as required to make it really easy to replace top .

Otherwise it will be a pain and you could end up cross threading top and end up with the vessel leaking when filtering water . Mike

I used to find it a real chore filling the di, now I just pour resin in to a clean bucket and add enough ro water just to make it a fluid consistency rather than a dry sticky mess and pour it in to the di vessel (dilute again anything left in the bucket and top up the vessel) with water in the vessel the riser fits back in a lot easier and its a lot less messy.

That's how I've been doing it for ages.
I use an old rectangular washing up bowl as the corner of the bowl will fit easily over the top of the DI Vessel and makes it easy to pour.
It's faster and easier.

To think that for ages I would try and funnel it in or make a scoop from a large plastic bottle and end up with a load of resin on the floor

1 - Any water will do, use pure if you want to be really picky.

2 - Yes a traffic cone would work fine, as would using a table spoon although you would be there a while.

3 - Personally, we fill DI vessels 3/4 full of resin, then add water.

A window cleaner i know used to remove the top from the di tank, but leaving the tube thing in there, he said it was easier that way, but i cant imagine how?!. When i used di, i just took the whole lot out, rinsed the tank with some water (probably not necessary), filled it up (just over 3/4) with dry resin, then put water in (just normal tap water as i was di only at the time) till you can see it on top of the resin (dont fill the water right up as when you put the tube back in it will spill water and resin out all over the place) the water makes it easy to get the tube back in, assuming you havnt put too much resin in. I found it difficult at times to get the thread right, so what i started doing was to push down on the top whilst turning it backwards till you feel it 'drop' on to the thread, then you know it is sitting correctly and you can tighten it up without fear of damaging the thread.

As far as i am aware, it doesnt matter. But if separating the top from the tube and leaving it in place, like the window cleaner i mentioned, i would be concerned about resin going down the tube!
