Have you been refused by Halifax?
« on: December 04, 2013, 10:34:18 pm »
I am looking to open a new business bank account that is a bit closer to home than my current one so thought I would type into search engine Halifax business account and found this article

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-102120/Halifax-bank-says-No-small-businesses.html

about Halifax not wanting Window Cleaners and a few other small businesses, anyone banking with them?

Im with RBS but want to change - any recommendations?

I remember this story, it was about 11 years ago though:

http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/news/article-1542395/Halifax-the-bank-that-says-No.html

maybe things have changed since then?  My missus has her bank account with them, they always seemed ok.

RBS were part of Halifax (or the other way round) weren't they?
That might make things easier...

The answer is in the letter.  :)

They don't want to deal with coinage so they don't want customers who collect coins during their business activities and then want to deposit them. My wife banks with Halifax and they won't exchange coins for her.

I'm with Santander for business.
But I don't trust them with cash after they blundered a couple of years ago.
I put all the cheques BACS into business account.
Cash (notes) pay in at the machine to put into my personal account then BACS it across to business account.
Coins, I don't get that much tbh, but I save them up. Probably only go to the actual lady ebbing the glass to pay them in twice or 3 times a year.
Been questioned a couple of times but never had any actual issue with it.

You can deposit your coins at the post office with a santander account.

Thanks for that.

It would take me precisely 4 million years to get down the queue at our local post office though.
The queue literally goes out if the door and down the street.
It goes something like:

Druggy
Druggy
Druggy
Doley
Doley
Scratty benefits mum and her 17 snot nosed kids
Alkie
Alkie
Little old lady
Fat old lady
Cat lady
Druggy
Doley
Etc etc...
