8 quid for 4 bed houses?far too cheap for me.15 quid.I can do 3 an hour so 45quid an hour on pockets of them.

Going up next year a quid as not put em up for 4 years.

I also have some 6 quid cottages in a row that earn me at least 45 an hour as there so small with very little windows.

24quid an hour is too cheap on any of my work.30-40 is normal these days.hoping to average 40-50 after next years price rises.

I have loads of £8 4 bed detached houses Jonny that take 20 mins mIns to do .

I'm happy with that price to be fair aswell.

Where are you from bud?

Central Scotland mate.

It's my bread and butter work i guess you might say. Little fish are sweet as my granny says. :)

I work all weather conditions (within reason) and customers are happy as they know they are getting good value. I think.

I never lose customers from being too expensive.

It works for me at the mo. Don't get me wrong, if I get to the stage where I've got too much work to get round my 4 week schedule then all of my runs will be going up hopefully to weed some out.

Dazmond all the best to you if you are making that kind of money. You must be pulling in £300 everyday minimum going by that hourly rate.

Fair play if you are!

£11 for the outsides of a 4 bed basic house is good . Ok some you may get £15 and some you don't .

On this forum , the way some of you talk about earnings I'm amazed you worry about the costs of using gas at £4 a day and other stuff .

When I see the pictures of vans posted on here that are quite old , with cheap DIY systems built in , it doesn't match up to the massive wages a few on here earn .

To me if you earning £200/£300/£400 a day you should have a singing and all dancing van and systems .

£50,000 to £100,000 earners but yet driving around in 10 year vans and using old poles and worrying about making them last longer .

Unless there all making it up ?

But good on yer if you are ......well done

I know some new window cleaners who have all singing all dancing vans and equipment but have no customers (or very few) so are earning next to nothing.

I also know of others who earn very good money but have debts to pay off from difficult times past - so they drive older vans and don't spend too much on equipment at the moment.

You just can't judge from what you see.

No one likes to lose customers for any reason, but I would rather clean 10 for £16 than 20 for £8. Same money, half the work.

ill never be a millionaire either lads!and I DONT MAKE £300 a day!£250 some days but not day in/day out.we all know that our yearly profits are what matter when all expenses, tax, insurances, equipment etc,etc are deducted.

now my brother thats a different story!i reckon he ll be a millionaire within the next few years selling perfume online!

he started his business 4 years ago and he s making more money than ill ever earn.

im happy though! ;D

moneys not everything but i try and earn as much as i can window cleaning as a one man band.

my van cost me £1400 nearly 4 years ago.its old but clean and tidy and its done me for the last 4 years.i only do 2500-3000 miles a year as ive got a separate car for leisure purposes.

im earning over £12,000 more a year than i was 4 years ago on ladders.

as long as i keep earning at least 3 grand more year on year im content.

its little goals that i work towards that are realistic and achievable.

this year ive spent about 3 grand on poles, heaters, brushes, reel and workwear and took my girlfriend and daughter on holiday.

i love going out to nice restaurants and staying in nice hotels.i have a good life.no kids.

next on the list is a newer van but i dont want to spend more than 4 or 5 grand on one as i do very little miles in it.

from my experience though its amazing how much more money you can get for cleaning someones windows if your confident,do a good job and dont let customers down.

i only work 5 or 6 hours on the glass a day and have a week off at the end of the month most months.

i also work in most bad weather all year round.

£250 a day , but only want to spend £4000 on a new van , and moans that spending £4 a day on Gas means you gave to put your prices up .

Something doesn't add up there mate .

If I was doing £250 a day , I wouldn't moan at using £4 a day gas .

But well done , your good for this forum with your photos and good advice .

Good on yer

I did say good on yer .

Just annoys me when some critism others for working at cheaper rates .
You gradually price dearer and were all at different stages , locations etc

Shouldn't knock persons for working and trying .
Saying stuff like -working like a fool etc , at least persons are working

It's all about knowing your market aint it? There is no way I can get £15 for a 4 bed semi, more like £8, but I can still make good money on them and the customer gets good value for money too. I actually lost a 2 bed bungalow last week that I tried to increase from £4 50 to a fiver  :-[

You can earn decent rates window cleaning but it does take time to build a decent round up.
and you hve to earn a living while you build it.

I've been going for 10 years and have some good work, and still, yes still have a few houses I do that aren't brilliant.

The guy's scheme might well work for him, if he is new it could get him lots of work at not bad prices as long as he is strong enough to say 'No' sometimes.

I think using this technique come, say, April/May he will be pretty tired but will have a sizeable round that if he is smart he will pick through and dump some and then go canvassing for better work.

its the inside cleaning thats the killer!customer has to be in and they take longer to clean IMO.

KEMPY i wasnt moaning about spending £4 a day on gas(last bottle it was 7 days so £3-50 a day! ;D)but just wondering what others spend that have been using them a lot longer than me.

i dont scrimp on equipment poles, reels etc but no way am i spending say 10-15 grand on a van that only gets driven no more than 3000 miles a year!all work in a 10 mile radius.most  within 6 miles from home.very compact.

i also wouldnt spend thousands on a fitted system and heater when DIY does the job.id rather spend the money on  decent holidays, nice restaurants and hotels! ;D

also at 42 i have to put money away for when im older and not as fit.emergency fund/tax/insurances and all the other things that you need to do when your self employed.

I'm with you on that. I drive a 10 year old scudo. I do have the money to replace but why?
I would no more replace my van than replace my washing machine, unless it needed replacing. All the time it starts in the morning and doesn't look too tatty I'll stick with my scud missile.
My brother has a lease deal costing £260 a month, thats just over £3k a year by putting up with my van I save that much towards my pension etc. I'm 42 as well got to plan ahead, and having a shiny van will not make me any extra money which is what I work for.
So while people are busy paying off their van loans, I'm busy paying off my mortgage thanks.
