Pump to pump controller wiring, help required?
« on: November 24, 2013, 07:19:51 pm »
I'm fitting a system from one van to another and after disconnecting everything whilst stripping out and I'm now a bit confused about wiring the pump to the controller.

There's 4 wires from the controller: 2 black and 2 red labelled 1,2,3,4

I'm guessing 1 and 2 to the battery and 3 and 4 to the pump?

Any help would be appreciated!

hiya
u need to tell people what controller you have so somebody might be able to help.
failing that give the controller maker a call in the morning ,shouldn't take u long to sort it out.
best of luck

Sounds like a pure freedom set-up all mine were wired like this when I did a change over new ones from gardiners come with red black blue and brown.

Yes on mine 1 & 2 were battery 3 and 4 pump 1 & 3 being red.   I had to do it by trial and error make sure you fit in line fuse then wire in 1 & 2 direct to a batt and see if controller works if not try 3 and 4

If your not happy to do that get a circuit tester before wiring

It is a pure freedom controller Darran. It's the one with solenoid connections so I'll give that a try in the morning. Cheers

Ben thanks for that but PF re wire the controllers  :o

Brown and blue are replaced with more black and red wires,  and it's not fun when trying to wire up a pair of these plus the auto solenoid cut off giving you yet another 4 wires in red and black  :-X

Hi Shaun

You are correct that cables 1 & 2 connect to the battery. 1 is positive, 2 connects to the negative terminal.
Cables 3 & 4 to the pump. 3 being positive and 4 Negative. Is this controller a solenoid unit? with 4 additional cable coming out of the bottom of the control? I can email you a guide for this unit.

Ian,

One of mine is a solenoid unit which I no longer use to operate the water flow, I have just cut and taped up these wires is that ok ?

Should be no problem Darran with the cables taped they are insulated, and will not affect the control operation of running your pump.
