hot water connections with pics
« on: November 02, 2013, 05:46:31 pm »

thermobore on inside of reel.brass barb with 2 jubilee clips tightened with power tool.it didnt pop off but im still not convinced it will stay put!the stainless steel tube gets very hot even when the temperature at brush end is 30 degrees(warm).the thread doesnt leak or the connection due to lots of ptfe tape and brute force!cant screw it all the way in though! ::)roll

I have a van mounted reel but never used a hose roller guide. Would never want to lug reel in and out of van and bend over double to wind it in.

Daz where did you get that silver connector from? Is this better than the brass elbow, mine constantly leaks with hot water

danny it runs off LPG.waterless tank heater from corwoods.£180 including VAT.no 20 min cut off.

LBWCS the silver bit  came fitted to my new reel(radashe 100 hi vis)the brass connectors are  rectus 26 fittings.very robust and NO leaks even with very hot water. ;)

the reel is not cheap(£235 including VAT) but its bullet proof! ;D ;D

Just an observation in general with gas heaters.

When installing a new combi boiler, the 'regulations' are that the first section (1 meter) of piping from the heater be copper and then plastic after that as the boiler itself gets very hot.

I haven't seen anyone applying the same principle to their wfp gas heaters.

If I were you I would cable tie the braided hose to the leg of the reel.

If it spins it ruins the braiding

alex it doesnt spin as the side fitting is a swivel.i keep my hose reel in the van now as well.i dont fancy lifting it in and out of the van all day as its a bit heavier than my old claber reel!! ;) ;D

Daz i think it might be easier if you turn your reel around so your  hose is coming from from the bottom of your reel rather than the top, if you get my drift. It will keep the hose at same level with the roller when winding it in. Will mean using you left hand to wind it up rather than your right though. Wayne
