ok thanks.. not as good as it sounds then?
i have a little bit of algi coming into my tank want to get it out but i have a whydale tank so if i was to put a little bleech in then pump it out with a sub pump was the idea.. then give it a good wash out. But i dont think i would fit a sub pump into the top of the tank its small entry 7 inch i think.

I would look at products designed JUST for killing algae. When we had an algae problem in our pond we purchased this stuff you added to the water and it killed it so quick.
You shouldn't really be getting algae though? Are storing the water for a long time? Is it pure water or ro water? Any sunlight?

there was a lot of sunlight in my ibc holding tank ... and i let it run a little low into my van tank.. its very thin layer on bottom of my van tank just needs something to shift it.
my IBC is now all covered up now and bleech sorted it out no problem in the ibc. i need to do same in the van tank but cant get an sub pump in the top

Ah ok you should be able to buy bullet type pumps at a push. Only about 3 inches wide.

Just really slim pumps. You could use a 12v bilge pump. Cost about £15 from eBay.
They pump about 25L a min. Would easily fit into your tank

Why can you get a sub pump in your van tank btw? Is it sealed like a custom one?

Can't you just connect a small bit of hose to the tank outlet? The tank will empty on its own
