I use purefreedom male end with a tap, and Gardiner female Ez-snap ends on end of pole hose.

I have always used these on a short length of 1/2" hose on the end of my microbore via a barbed reducer
http://www.gardena.com/uk/water-management/hose-connectors/hose-connector-with-control-valve-13-mm-1-2/
by far the best of this style of connection.
Check the website for a stockist near you as the price has gone up a fair bit on ebay for one (£10.50 inc delivery).
I'm not very gentle with them (get dragged on floor and knocked about) but my last one must have done about 18 months before needing to be changed.
