Youngstown waterproof winter glove
« on: October 16, 2013, 11:36:06 am »
Winter is approaching and I'm thinking of ordering these gloves.
Has anyone had these? Not bothered if they're not 100% waterproof as you can always heat them up in van during the day but I do want them to be warm. One of my fingers has nerve damage and gets very painful in the cold.
I could possibly order an inner layer if they're not toasty enough ::)roll
Are they recommended?
Thanks.

Bought these, not been cold enough to use yet but they are very snug when you put them on, seem very good quality

jim for really cold weather i wear a pair of glacier "perfect curve" neoprene gloves.ive had them for years.i only use them when its extremely cold.they keep your hands very warm.i wear nitrile glove liners underneath.i also wear the gardiner "pad ice" gloves when its cold but not too cold again with liners underneath.

but my normal working day to day gloves are showa 377s with liners underneath.these are the best waterproof gloves ive used for keeping hands free from black carbon, pure water and dirt.they are not warm enough for very cold days though.

very best wishes

I've used them the past few winters - - I'd recommend buying 2 pairs as they don't stay dry all day long,.. but they are the best gloves I've found so far.

I am possibly the best person to ask as i have nerve damage in both hands .  Looked at afore mentioned gloves and to be honest mate if you are going wfp or not a leather palmed glove will become wet quicker than you think .

And you will struggle to dry them out in the van and wet glove in cold weather will make your hands cold fast and you will suffer . I have gone through loads of gloves over the years and the 2 pairs Dazmond mentioned are good gloves to have .

I have both and the Pad Ice glove is a good warm glove to have through autumn with and the neoprene glaicer glove will be really when its wet and cold . Mike

Thanks for the replies. Think I'll order some glacier pro curve ones then, they sell them at window cleaning centre. Will order a liner also just incase. Cheers!

Neoprene...I haven't tried them for work but I own two pairs as I used to do scuba diving. When diving yes your hands stay warm'ish' depending on water temp but as neoprene isn't waterproof your hands will always be wrinkly. I know we're not submerging our hands in water but I don't think I'd want these on all day all the same.

*just read that you wear with a liner!

So basically I should be ok with any of the neoprene gloves, providing I order an inner glove with them also, just to add extra warmth?
I'll give it a whirl... Roll on spring  :D

I have tried a number of gloves, the neoprene gloves I have tried including the glacier pro curve split at the seams after a while and I didn't find that they were that warm, the best gloves for me are the youngstown waterproof winter glove, also easier to get on and off .

They don't stay waterproof long. This year I will be wearing nitrile gloves inside them.
