The developer should have it monthly, or else once he's had his big pay day over the initial launch, he could quickly lose interest in developing it further or supporting it.

Similar to WCP developers.

It shouldnt be a problem as the developer and designer have a agreement in place regarding updates etc.

Its a agreement in place before the designer started working on the app the designer and developer agreed on this.
